Corpus Surf Spots

Moving to Corpus in 2 weeks and word on the streets is there are some fun breaks out there. Can anyone help me out and tell me where I can "get pitted" and "wahhpaahh" come up and "smack the lip"?
Google maps tells me the jetty just off the main road going south from the base gets good, but that's all I have so far.
Thanks!

http://www.mil-surf.com/ Nothing in there for TX (yet).

If you are stationed in Corpus I strongly recommend you learn to windsurf...it's a very extreme sport once you learn how to "get in the straps and plane." I gave up surfing for many years after learning to windsurf. Many of my windsurf buddies crossed over to kitesurfing, but a lot have come back...you can't beat the feeling of being the control system for a board/sail rig, speeding over the water at 30 knots or greater. Lessons are a must to progress rapidly. Get your gear and lessons here: http://www.worldwinds.net/

I think you will like Niccolo Porcella's description of his recent kitesurfing wipeout at JAWS here:

I grew up in Corpus, good luck surfing. You have to get the weather just right and it can be good. I would suggest the windsurfing route, but don't get me wrong I spent plenty of time surfing off Bob Hall and Jp Luby.

Haha awesome video! I've always wanted to try it, but getting the trainer and working my way to a full kite seems a bit pricey. Might be worth it if I keep getting stuck on the gulf though.

Thanks for the spots. Got the pier bookmarked now. Where is JP Luby?
