Corpus Christi vs Pensacola

TL;DR

There are pros and cons to both which pretty much make them a wash.

Go where there's advanced foe the type of flying you think you want to do post primary. If it's fixed wing go to corpus, if it's helos go to whiting. That way when training is delayed and EOY pcs money runs out you get to stay there for advanced.

If you have a family this makes sense.

If you're single, do the opposite.

Doesn't matter if your single or not. If you want to fly fixed wing go to corpus and helos go to whiting so you're not told that you're getting your selection for advanced only because they don't have the money to move you (it's happened to dudes here on this site). It's not overly common but it happens.

Having lived in both places I personally prefer Pensacola over Corpus, and I think wing 5 has a better primary program having seen bits of both, but I'd still pick corpus if I for sure knew I wanted fixed wing flying and whiting if I was sure I wanted helos.

Oh wow, I had no idea that PCS orders comes into play for selection.

Piggybacking off zippy, I have seen a few people who wanted helos out of Corpus been told to go maritime including one who did not even put it on his dream sheet (he put Helos, Helos, Helos).

Is this a real question?

I was in Corpus for a little over a year (primary and advanced) and it was...crappy. I hated the town and people, everyone is fat and just in the way. Beaches are way worse than Pensacola, but Pensacola is really hard to beat. There are limited restaurants (notice everyone is listing chain restaurants to eat at that's pretty much all Corpus has to offer). The base is also much crappier. I did like Texas besides "the city by the bay". Frequent trips to Austin and San Antonio are needed. Living on the Island was a good time and a must if you go there. All in all Corpus isn't that bad if you stay away from the locals and I did have some good times, barbecuing on the canal, going to baseball games, and concerts but overall shitty compared to Pensacola. I would pick Milton and try not to dread it if you end up in Corpus.

Only a year for both primary and advanced? You live the good life!
