Contact lens waiver competitiveness

#1
Does anyone know how competitive a SNA with a contact lens waiver will be to get the jet syllabus? Or would I be better off pursuing a career as an NFO since 60% of NFO's get chosen for the jet syllabus? USN or USMC, Thanks!

Contact lens wear should not be a factor in platform selection.

This is old gouge: I'm at 20/400 correctable to 20/20, fly on a SCL waiver, and jets were wide open to me after primary. Yea...I need to get Lasik or PRK asap but it's prolly not happening for a couple more years.

From talking to a couple docs, it sounds like they have tightened up the waiver requirements, so what Brett said is probably true as far as initial requirements, but there isn't anything to keep you out of tacair, besides the whole grades and needs of the Navy thing.

Other than that, go ahead and get yourself a Top Gun poster, some old F-14 patches, and start practicing your unnecessarily flex-ed volleyball game. You're practically in!

I thought the SCL waiver was no longer available for SNA?
It isn't. It was discontinued a couple years back. I was one of the, if not the last one to get approved for it and I'm nearing completion of primary.

Though I haven't actually been told anything to the contrary, its nice to hear someone say that.
