I’ve been on deck when a pair of Ospreys have recovered and launched. It’s a big airplane and those rotors are moving a lot of air. Lots of folks almost got knocked down when they launched. It will require some adjustment, like anything new.

Still haven’t figured it out, Max?

One can suppose that it hardly would be the case for COD due to very narrow margin for carrier rolling landing mistake. Aside from the danger of losing one engine on the glidescope that might bring an immense disaster on the ramp, I think the bolter would be too hard to perform, and the crash barrier, if employed, would damage this aircraft beyond the possibility to restore it, and vice versa: both the aircraft and a barrier would be written off (here Brett would say that this is epic bosh:eek:)

One can suppose that you really are speculating without knowledge of the aircraft.

An engine loss on final is bad on any aircraft. The V-22 can do a OEI waveoff just like any other. If it happens really late, it’ll be a bad day...just like any aircraft.

How would a bolter be any more dangerous than with another aircraft?

V-22s do STOs off LHAs and LHDs all the time. They don’t do roll on landings because the aft end of the deck is too small, but don’t act as if this is outside the box.

Then it's time to think about takeoff ramps, isn't it? All world knows that ramps didn't appear on USN LHDs/LHAs due to Marine grunt generals' opposition just not to eliminate two to three 46' and 53' forward spots. Now when the assault workhorse becomes V-22 and the STO for it is routine as you're stating, maybe it's better to return to the ramp problem, simultaneously helping the F-35Bs' takeoffs?

You don't need a ramp to STO a v-22 off an LHD/A.

I don't think a ramp type system is remotely compatible with a V-22 vehicle - largely determined by landing gear clearance and how fast the nacelles can program - its NOT a Harrier. You don't see the Japanese planning to employ anything like this.
