Per the monster draft environmental impact, 17 at North Island, 3 in Japan, 15 in Norfolk and 3 for training (at either North Island or Norfolk) = 38. Per FY19 budget submission, total buy is 48. 10 for pipeline/attrition/Pax River/whatever. The numbers work...

Agreed, which is why that article was wrong. Too many journalists have assumed that 38 is the total buy.

View attachment 18133 My prediction- after the C-2 is gone this is how we will get replacement aircraft engines to the CVN

Don't see why. A CMV can carry most all the engines in the afloat inventory with the correct container. Plus, the Marine Corps doesn't have enough 53s for the LHDs, much less the CVN, so good luck with that, even if they could reach.

Can an osprey carry 8,000 lbs of cargo 700 miles? If not, how much can it carry 700 miles unrefueled?

I’ve been on deck when a pair of Ospreys have recovered and launched. It’s a big airplane and those rotors are moving a lot of air. Lots of folks almost got knocked down when they launched. It will require some adjustment, like anything new.

Still haven’t figured it out, Max?
