Civilian Intel jobs

I'm currently thinking about applying for METOC and Intel (I'm a current active duty AG with a BS in meteorology), and I can't help but think of my long term future after the Navy. Meteorology jobs are drying up and I hate to say it but it's starting to get boring for me. What is the civilian market in Intel like? I'm sure a lot of former Intel officers get hired by the various 3-letter Gov't agencies. What other opportunities are there?

Defense contractors who work with military and/or 3-letter agencies hire many former military Intel types who can "talk the talk" credibly with the customers, and who normally bring "contacts" with them. Your security clearance is a huge plus as well. When I was with Lockheed Martin, we had many, many of them…of all services. Obviously, longer service/higher rank is more valued, but I worked with many JOs as well…who were usually still in the RC in some capacity.

The civilian intel job market ebbs and flows like many others but there will always be a need for civilian intel officers. Being a former military Intel officer will give you a leg up but not a guarantee. Being a former miltary officer though will pretty much allow you to whatever you want, from working to Toys R Us to owing a business based on the movie A Christmas Story (both jobs done by former Navy Intel O's).

Tons of intel jobs for CIV/CTR, but most are in either the NCR or Tampa. I tried for six months to help a transitioning USN O-4 1110/1810 find an intel CTR job in San Diego with my company (a top defense contractor). He had an active TS/SCI and MA from NPS, but no luck getting hired.

You can add St Louis, Denver, Honolulu, Europe and beautiful Dayton, Ohio as places that have a decent number of jobs.

Not to pile on, but this is semi-bad gouge. Yes, most NIP jobs are in DC. On the other hand, the MIP jobs are spread out across all of the COCOMs and other areas with a high concentration of military seniors. Tampa has 2 of 9 COCOMs.

This is actual bad gouge. Most COCOM billets are NIP not MIP. However, most service component (7F, 3AF/USAFE) billets are MIP.
