If we moved this to the private NA forum, could we go into more detail?
Probably, but since the aircraft is no longer in the CQ inventory, a broader discussion re: attitudes, procedures, LSO's, waving, and life in the CQ pattern (which is what's goin' on, yeas??) MIGHT be of use to the masses of the unwashed and those coming up through the pipeline -- I don't know what "detail-detail" Winged Aviators might get from it on the private forum.

I think information and shop-talk are good things in aviation, however. I don't know what degree of detail we need on this .... but:I do know it's always good for young skulls full of cottage cheese to get their minds "right" sooner rather than later .... :)

Just throwin' that out ... just my $20 ... certainly not the final word from me or any one else.

Perhaps a split then? Keep the gouge on boat stuff here and move the particulars on this mishap to the private area.

Dude, you're responding to long forgotten threads that nobody has posted in for years. You're probably not going to find much of what you're looking for here.

Thanks mate, this is my first ever forum and i've been set straight by the admins. BTW i served as a crash guy aboard Australia's last carrier 77-79.

With due respect to the age of the thread, all I can say is that PLAT tapes/tower camera footage clearly fall into the "Part A/Non-Priveleged" category of mishap evidence…simple documentary footage that would have been recorded in any event unrelated to a subsequent mishap… and which are absent any "analytical commentary/assessment". Admittedly, some Navy office code has the authority to withhold public release for a number of reasons, but unless too gruesome or specific (rare occurrence), these are releasable.

Not sure what WRT means, but i've had a few FOI successes and i'm in Australia. 75 min DVD showing an S-3 barricade trap aboard CVN-71 and E-2 launch crash off CVN-75.

Just know that with every FOIA request, you're creating dozens of hours of extra work for people in the DoD so you can enjoy your little hobby.
