Can anyone tell me if there is a gate on the east side of MCB Camp Pendleton? I see there is one on the south near oceanside, and suspect there is one on the north. Is there a way on base near the Fallbrook and Temecula area, or would one have to drive around down south near oceanside.

Anyone live on the east side of the base (comments) or on the north side of the base (mission viejo, san clemente)?

I've noticed BAH is different within $100-$200 depending on what town (zip) you select. Do people get paid for the zip code in which they reside, or do the get BAH based on Camp Pendleton zip code and location?

    Thanks for the help

Oh and these questions are in regards to purchasing a home, not renting

I'm pretty sure you have to use the Oceanside gate (the one closest to Mainside) to get up to Fallbrook and Temecula. A buddy of mine lived in Fallbrook while he was in -303 and that's the gate he always used.

There is a gate at Fallbrook Naval Weapons station that works out for some people coming in from Fallbrook and Temecula.

There are gates at Fallbrook, Mainside/San Luis Rey (E. Oceaside), Oceanside off the I-5, San Onofre near San Clemente, and Pulgas (off I-5 halfway between San Onofre and the I-5 Oceanside gate). You can cut thru Fallbrook weapons station to and from the temecula area. Your BAH is based on your duty station. To my knowledge it's the same for everyone aboard CamPen.

Thanks for the replies. Of the people you know who live in fallbrook/temecula do they have any complaints about the commute? How long does it take to get the the squadrions if cutting through the fallbrook weapons station vs going around to the mainside entrance?

    Cjhp

When I lived there years back, it was slow going thru the east side and the ammo dump. San Luis Rey gate on the SE headed for Vista was my most used.
Things have changed over the years and I have many fond memories of CJHP dating back to the early 50's and the Korean war era. My daughter still owns property in Vista and both of us graduated from Vista High!!.

Your BAH is based on where you are based at, not which ZIP code you actually live in.

I got a few buds in Temeculah. They claim 45-minute commutes, using NWS gate.
