Only the first 2 options were the OP's original poll. The other 2 were added as the thread evolved.

Texting while riding? That's impressive. I'd be more worried about losing my phone than control. Weird.

+1 on the dirtbike. I'd owned a cruiser for a couple years and own an SV-650S now (GREAT bike, btw) and my bro in law took me riding on a 4-stroke 450 in a socal canyon and it was an EYE-OPENING experience. I'd like to get one.

This thing is even spreading beyond NavAir. My civilian CFI at my general aviation flying club warned me, "When you leave for Pensacola, be sure not to mock IFS all over Facebook." Wildfire!

See my earlier comment about reputation preceeding you.

The oft cited and seldom used "general assclownery" clause.

It's on page 34-1119B of the secret FTI.

Unless I'm missing something, PRB for the blog seems a little over the top.

According to the source "Just general dumbassery...OLQ."

I haven't read the blog in a few days, but didn't he also bash some senior leaders as well?

I think he took it down. There might have been something in there about O5 general buffoonery, but I really didn't read much of it. Hopefully this will be a good reality check, learning will occur, and life will go on.

I'm a new ensign who checked in down here in Pensacola a few weeks before Monsieur Aviation. Discovered AW because of how much attention the blog got. How long does something like this stick with you? I'm sure he'll be a lightning rod in API, but any chance for redemption after that?

Oh definitely! You can write a blog much worse than Monsieur Aviation to where everyone forgets about the previous guy!

You can haul a kid up to a PRB on pretty much anything. Several times during my tenure at P'cola, it was used as "Mast Lite" for general assclownery. Mostly it was to 1) "Document deficiencies in training or performance" 2) give the kid a "come to Jesus moment".

Cones, take note: what you do gets noticed, and this ain't a very big club. Show your ass publicly, expect to hear about it.

It will stick with you as long as it should...

Take your lumps like a man, learn the lesson they are trying to teach you and kick ass going forward and in a year, nobody will remember it.

On the flip side...if you don't straighten up and fly right, it's a piece of the puzzle to send you were the shoes and souls are black.

Think of it as saying officially "Suck less!"

Isn't that what ALL HSC Dets do, now that HSL is no longer the "Tactical" USN Helo community, because HSC screams "WE'RE TACTICAL" all day long?

    :D

That's all my last HSC det did*, which is why the MEU Phrogs were always the dedicated SAR plat...er, the "Rescue Coordinators" on the Air Plan.

*Either that, or the -60s were cursed with one bird that was a hangar queen and one that was always down due to inspections.
