Better than Google Earth

Good find, pretty cool. I hope though that when using "Bird's Eye View," they create greater ability to navigate the image and zoom out. It seems that there exists essentially only two zoom modes (+ & -), both of which are quite close in.

Anyone tried using the 3D Map/View function?

Totally agree on that zoom thing. As far as 3-D is concerned it only works in big cities and looks pretty good but definitely looks like flight sim sort of stuff. Much better than google earth's 3-d though.

These photos must've been taken like a year ago, cuz I looked up my parents house, and sure enough the house next door that was torn down last fall, is still there... and my truck is still sitting in their driveway!... (it's now actually in my driveway 1000 miles away)

It's like looking back in time!!

Wow, I can see the BBQ on my patio. Is this from satellite or areal imagery?

Edit: The imagery from Whidbey has my neighborhood under construction - at least 12 years old.

As for the topic on hand... I can zoom in closer than Google Maps, but according to MS, my house hasn't been built yet. Just an empty bunch of lots that haven't been cleared yet.

I recently returned from Microsoft's headquarters in Seattle where I was given a sneak peek at Virtual Earth, which will roll out soon. It is unbelievable.

How does it differ from Google's version? I presume it uses some of the same imagery data.

The Birdseye Function is by the zoom slider. It is the icon with the skyscrapers on it.

BTW using the line drawing toolbar you can use the maps to determine distances (the multi-dot plot tool). Using that I determined it is 83 yards from my house to the water at low tide. Cool website :)

Haha! I checked out my school on the local live deal and that pic is not only black and white but around 25 to 30 years old!

I found my red camaro in the driveway of an ex-girlfriend's house from 6 years ago. I don't think these pictures are very current. Unless she is with another guy with a red camaro.....
