I have two questions about the NROTC selection:
I finished my application in late September...any estimate about when I can expect to hear from the selection board?
Is there any type of interview before the board after you have completed the application?

Anyone know the selection board schedule?

To kill two birds with one stone: Boards meet about once a month. Some people won't find out if they are selected until middle/late summer. Good luck.

My high school senior son got his NROTC application submitted in July (between going to Newport for NJROTC Leadership Academy/Sailing Training and going to JROTC Cadet Command and Staff School as staff), and got the letter telling him to go for his DODMERB examinations last week. What is the significance of this? Is this the final step before notification of selection/rejection? Or is the DODMERB physical something that LOTS of applicants have to do, and they still end up waiting for months for a selection decision?

I did all of the DODMERB stuff while I was in the interview process for the NROTC scholarship. I had all of the exams complete before I was offered/accepted my scholarship. I think it is just all part of the process.

would i still need to go in front of a selection board even if im not looking to go on scholarship my first year? I will be joing a unit as a transfer student and currently my GPA isnt high enough to get on scholarship or so i believe(2.9).

also i have a question about an arrest record. i was arrested right after i turned 18 for racing. but my charges were adjudicated and finally dismissed. So i do not have a conviction on my record but the arrest still shows. how much of an effect will this have on joining a unit? will it automatically disqualify me or will i need to get a waiver?

I think the unit you are requesting to join will have their own application of sorts, but it's mainly automatic. Just let them know you want to do college program and they will sort things out and let you know what you need to do.

Does any one here know how I can go about setting up at DODMERB physical overseas? I am currently living in Tanzania and have been awarded the four year NROTC scholarship. I was told I should go to the embassy, but am still waiting for the packet. Is that how I should be setting it up?

Have you contacted the NETC NROTC desk? I'm certain they would have an answer for you.
