I think some NFO's have waited that long.
If he was a SNFO, he waited around 40 weeks to start API.
Edit: Disregard, make that a ~5 month wait, not a year.
Well, than that's just silly.
I'm a SNA and I waited almost 12 mos. to start from my commissioning date. Commissioned May 05, checked in to the A pool Feb 06, classed up for API in may 06, TW-5 pool in Jun 06, starting VT-3 next week! ...whew
what did you do between May 05 and Feb 06?
Some leave and stashed at N78 (now N88) Aviation Warfare directorate at the P-gon.
We had 2 JGs but they did the masters thing. PM me about the guy you know.
I've seen it a number of times on the AF pilots and navs at NASC. Havent seen it on a Marine yet, probably never will. LOTS of navy studs do the "dip" at NASC. I guess its lead by example. I saw the O-3s and up doing, so why not. I havent been called out on it yet.
and you probably won't be...except by a fellow stud.
Oh alright, I just haven't seen a lot of it in my experiences with the Air Force through CAP. But then again, we never interacted with a lot of the TACAIR types. Now if only they'd bring back the 100 Mission Crush. . .
I think maybe the crush cap would look kinda goofy with a bag.
But not with Blues.
