Anthropometric issues (are you too big or even too small or...)

(NAC)Arizona

Good day,

Just recently had my anthros taken by a random corpsman at medical. Threw my numbers in the system and was told that I am a 'no go' for T-6s for SNA/SNFO for a TTR of 28.5 inches. However, I was only measured twice not three times. I was told the only other option is for me to go to NAMI and get measurements done there. I have done some digging in the 3710.37A and 9D. Granted the publications are dated 2006, the chart shows no go for only <26 everything up from there is green. Reading through the couple of threads about this I have seen 28.5 and 29.5 for minimums. Lastly, on the new 12/15 Officer Application there no longer is Anthros required. Any advice and guidance is greatly appreciated. Hope that everyone has a great day and thank you for your time.

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding standing height. I am a slight fraction above 6'5. Right at 6'5 and 1/4 to be exact and all my anthros check out to be in good shape. Just curious as to if they are flexible at all with that 1/4 of an inch? I don't want my dream and hard work to be taken from me all because of 1/4 of an inch. Any feedback would be awesome.

Thanks!

My info is somewhat dated but in my specific case my BKL length was about a 1/4 inch too long for certain platforms. They did not entertain any possibility of waivers, etc, and I understand they still don't perform fit checks.

My advice, slouch when they measure, jump off of a chair for a few hours, and don't sit down for the whole day leading up to the measuring. I'm being serious, it's the opposite of guys who are concerned about being too short and lay down for a few days to decompress their spine.

Good luck.

Hey I need someone to give me an honest input into this please!

I have been going through USMC and was disqualified a month ago at Maryland for being 2 inches off sitting height. I was incredibly disappointed as Im sure im not alone in saying that Flying was a dream since I was a kid. However, even though my OSO is forcing me to go ground, I want to do another measurement and will be heading down to P-Cola in few months.

Heres what I need help with:
Before i decided to do this, I had made sure of my qualifications (eye exam, anthro measurements etc) but at the time I was doing Powerlifting and i was far thicker (thus helping with my sitting height) than I am now after all the running I have been doing for over a year.
With that said, Im going to put off my contract for now and work on getting thicker through heavy lifting to add mass to glutes and hamstrings. I'm aware 2 inches is a lot and cant be all muscle. Lady down in P-Cola thinks its a good strategy to try.

What do you guys think? Am I being foolish..to try this? or this is a viable option?

Two inches off meaning two inches too short?

I posted this in the CG forum without much luck but maybe someone here knows. I have seen lots of people mention that the Navy does not have anthro waivers and if you don't meet the requirements you're done, but does the CG offer anthro waivers? Or at least fit checks?

How tall are you? Did you end up getting measured again?

I bet this guys problem has been solved long ago. Nice resurrection though.
I am sure those issues have been solved by now. I may find myself in a similar situation with about the same measurements and am curious about any resolution that may have happened.

Hello all,
I have a question about TTR that I have not seen the answer to on other threads. I am an OCAN, and I have to have my flight physical renewed since it has been two years from the original.
The woman who took my anthros made it seem like my arms were too short, but she let me stretch my arm forward farther with her holding my shoulder back to “simulate” the shoulder harness. Is this standard procedure? Or was she just being nice?
I am afraid the next time I go they won’t let me do that and I’ll be DQ’d. Thank you I’m advance.

I have been curious about this too for some time now. Is the entire shoulder forced against the back wall? Or just the shoulder blade so you can reach out further?

I had to put my whole shoulder against the back wall but the officer taking my measurement held my shoulder back and let me stretch so my shoulder was off the wall a bit. How tall are you? I have T. rex arms and I passed so I wouldn’t worry about it
