Thread resurrection. More info on Corey Parker's relief: http://hamptonroads.com/2012/06/navy-commanding-officer-fired-falsifying-records Looks like falsification of NATOPS check (or equivalent). XO of my first squadron (right before I got there) went to Admiral's Mast for falsifying his medical up-chits. FNAEB and no more flying would be my choice for falsifying any documents related to flying qualifications. There is no room for this BS.
Looks another Skipper may be getting relieved shortly.... http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/12/world/meast/bahrain-navy-collision/index.html?hpt=hp_t3
There's another one as well: http://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=68964 "Just" a personal misconduct one though.
Wow, that's a good one. Apparently, throwing caution to the wind while engaging in adultery also means throwing your condoms into the wind as well.
Brett, In order to prevent this when you take command, make sure you use super glue on your zipper.... -ea6bflyr
I'd rather just keep my personal life outside the bounds of adultery and impregnation of age-inappropriate teenie-boppers. You can be single and enjoy the opposite sex without being completely shady about it. Edit: BTW, that's the title of Octo-mom's new autobiography: "Throw Your Condoms Into the Wind."
"The woman said she met Ward, 43, on a dating Website in October 2011. She said he told her he worked in "special ops." She said Ward, who is married with children, told her he was separated. She said he impregnated her and, in an effort to end the relationship, faked his death in an email communication in July." Wow - another guy with the "special ops" line...but I think my favorite part is "faked his death in an email," quite impressive...
How psycho was this woman that he had to fake his death? and more importantly does anyone have a picture of her?
Crazy enough to allow herself to get knocked up, then conveniently "lose" the alleged embryo. Her picture will come out. As soon as someone offers her 15 minutes in the limelight, she'll capitalize in any way she can. "What? You say Lifetime Network wants to tell my story in the form of a made for basic cable movie? Sure, bring that production crew right in. What? Playboy wants to take my picture? Oh, they'll be tastefully nude? Where do I sign?"
I wonder if one week in command is a record for shortest command tour? I am sure many of you remember the days when you could do stuff like this and no one gave a crap (not saying there wasn't moral issues)
Seeing Ochocinco get fired today without due process running its course is a reminder that there are other professions where image trumps all - even justice. Fair? Maybe not, but it's one of the many hazards we all have to negotiate in this business.
I certainly remember when things were quite a bit 'laxer' than today... but I can't recall any COs pulling stunts like this one, and some of the more serious (fraternization, sexual/morality/bullying) issues of today. They were; however, allowed to bump an occasional buoy, or just happen to be at a 'wild' party, without having their career destroyed. BzB
I had a CVN CO (in the late 90's) that would bring women back to the ship after going out and spend time with them in his inport cabin, no one can say for sure if anything happened but the perception was there, and his wife was not in the same state.
The big difference is... back before TH '91, you were presumed innocent until evidence/testimony proved otherwise. Since then, PC'ness allows 'perceptions', to determine guilt... the death of a career in many instances. BzB
True, but in his profession, he (by getting fired) is the exception. You could easily field a full NFL team with the number of NFL players with significant criminal records...even convicted felons. Plus, he has the opportunity to get picked up by another team. Military officers, when canned, are done-ski.
