Do you have any experience in the Intelligence field?
No military/government intel experience. Many years working difficult legal/commercial issues on the ground in Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa for US businesses operating in those areas, but I get that does not directly translate and that I would be starting from scratch in terms of military intel experience. My SF86 responses were pretty lengthy because of the time I've spent working abroad. The comments from the interviewers were very positive ("I want him in my wardroom"), but I know that there is a deep bench of spectacular candidates and many people who bring on-point experience that I simply don't have.

Those that are doing the job will probably say you don't really need experience in the civilian side to do the job, those doing the selections tend to have a different view, I don't think I saw a person selected from my NRD that didn't have years of experience in the field that they were applying to, except for 1 person who was a Supply DCO. The panel interviewers would sometimes give 10's and in the writeups put little things that would end up shooting them down such as "XXX is a must select, he would be an ideal candidate if he had experience in XXX"

It sounds like the panel interviewers really like you it is probably the board members that are getting hung up on you not having experience.
