I know it is a long way off but anyone else have this date? So far I have found one other person on the usnavyocs site. We are both Crypto.

Hey, I have that date too. I was final seclet for SNA about a month ago. What are you doing now to prepare for OCS?

As for OCS prep, I am just working out ( I really need to work on my pushups!)

I did sign up for a mentor, not sure how that will help. Dunno, hard to get really motivated as a year is a long way off!

So, Shawnee, KS? I used to live in Prairie Village. How is life out there?

Hey, I'm the other Crypto guy mbergem mentioned from the usnavyocs site. Eleven months and counting! I suppose that OCS will come and go before we know it. levibro, pardon me for my ignorance, but what does the SNA designator stand for?

Things I'm doing to prepare for OCS: my PT needs work all around, yelling (but not at my wife), and slowly starting to memorize the Big 4.

You need to work on your yelling? Why torture yourself with trying to work on yelling? You're going to get a soar throat...period. There's not really much you can do about it. Just try to stay healthy and not get a cold before you get there. Don't worry, you won't be missing out because you can count on getting a cold within a week of showing up.

Hey, cracker thanks for reminding us about the time we have left to prepare. SNA stands for Student Naval Aviator. What have you been doing for PT? I have just been running some and doing push-ups.

I'm still alive and waiting as patiently as I can for July 30th to come. I swore in on October 1st. Other than that, I'm working out whenever I can motivate myself to do so. My running program attempts to follow the recommended routine on the OCS site. Currently I'm at the running 2.5 miles in 23 minutes stage. I'm also doing sets of push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, and dips a couple times a week. My goal is to keep up with you youngsters once we get to OCS :)

Ahhhh, I'm more worried about passing all my classes than PT right now. Oh yeah... engineering sucks.

What is it about engineering that sucks? Do you have any idea what type of engineering they cover?

o.k. I'm trying to resurrect this thread again...

I'm thinking about participating with the local colleges NROTC for some activities next semester, to get my feet wet to Navy culture, so to speak. Is that a good idea or not?

Vette, are you getting anxious or what?

Well, since Cracker is valiantly trying to keep this thread alive, I thought I would send out a quick, "Hello." I just started getting back into shape...wow your body suffers from 3 mos of eating donuts, drinking beer, and watching TV! (not all at once!) :) Right now I am running 3mi 3 times a week and working hard on my pushups. My push-ups are my only really weak area (no pun intended). If I can arrive at OCS able to do 55 or so, I will be happy with that. I just started going over the BIG FOUR too. 7 months and counting....

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

mbergem - good to hear from you again.

As for my running, I stopped for the past month or so to heal from shin splints. Instead, I've been swimming or stair stepping... I'm most worried about running at OCS. I do not want to get shin splints there. Hopefully, the muscles (or whatever causes shin splints) will be strong enough not to cause me problems there.

Anyway, good luck and see you soon...

I have been trying to stay in shape as well. I have been doing push-ups and sit-ups almost everyday and running 2 to 3 times a week.

Cracker, sorry to hear about you shin splints. I know those can be painful. A good way to help prevent them is to do toe taps. You can do these while sitting at a chair with you feet flat on the ground and raising your toes up while keeping you heels on the ground. These helped me a few years ago. I would do them during class or when I was just sitting around.

    levibro,

Thanks for the advice. I ran today for the first time in about 6 weeks. Ughhh, it's amazing how fast one can get out of shape. At least my shins feel back to normal and hopefully I won't get them again. But, I'll do toe taps whenever I can.

    Happy holidays!

Wow, the time is ticking rather fast. As far as working out a lot... I'm not doing anything to extraordinary. Just running a few times a week, with pushups and situps thrown in. I have a gym class next semester running 10k 2x a week... that should help. Mainly I'm just trying to enjoy what little college I have. I figure I'll PT really hard in the 2 months of summer I have off before OCS.

    Hey guys...

How's everything going? Less than 6months until we're at OCS.

I would like to get a database of people in our class running so we can possibly set up a meeting before OCS starts and make any other arrangements (such as rides). If you guys PM or Email me with your Name, Address, EMail, AIM? and how you're getting to PCola, I'll get something together for everyone. And if you know people not on this site that are going to be in OCS w/ us, ask them to do the same.

    Hey what's up everyone,

Just got my new OCS date. I was originally scheduled for April 9th but due to too many pilots in the system I'm now headed out with you fine gentlemen.

VetteMuscle427 I'm sending you my personal info. We should all definitely get together before OCS starts. Also I'll also be driving down from Boston. If anyone needs a ride either from Boston or any place between Boston and PCola let me know.

It's time to wake this sleeping thread up again :sleep_125

Hope all of you are doing well. We only have 4 months left to wait, prepare, get sufficient sleep, etc. I look forward to meeting you there under such fine circumstances...

    Vette,

I understand you like to jump out of planes. Although I have no desire to make a jump, my wife tells me frequently she really, really wants to jump. Do you take newbies on their first jump?
