I did not get the Pro-Rec Y either. But I'm still going for Intel in December. Good luck to everybody who made the cut!

Making Recruiting Great Again
For those who didn't get selected, improve your OAR, motivational statement, and if possible find a senior SWO to do an interview with. For the motivational statement, it needs to be "SWO-centric", as in it's obvious SWO is your top choice and it reflects that in your statement.

My recruiter said that the motivational statement should not indicate which program you prefer to be selected for...is that really the case? I am new to the forum so if I am supposed to post elsewhere for that question I am happy to do so.

Thanks

This sounds scary for me since I still havnt heard from my recruiter yet.

I emailed mine after I saw this thread today. He asked me to call him and gave me the news. Not trying to scare anybody! A 37% selection rate is tough!

For those of us who did not get selected, lets get our next applications such that it'll be hard for boards to say no next time. For those who did get selected, congrats and good luck to you.

Pro-rec N

OAR: 58
GPA: 3.86
Degree: BS in Economics w/ math/statistics and Spanish minors from a pretty good public school.

I'm not sure what exactly I need to change. My recruiter was really confused as well. My motivational statement is SWO-centric (it's my only and therefore top choice). I went back to make sure there weren't any typos or anything glaringly wrong and couldn't find anything nor could my recruiter. I don't have any medical or legal/criminal issues. 2 years of professional experience in finance.

Any advice? I'll try to get an interview with a SWO officer if possible but my recruiter is pushing back on that saying that it wouldn't make a difference.

Obviously your OAR score and GPA are very good and the only thing that might have a hand in your PRO REC N is the fact that you haven't graduated from college yet. I got a PRO-REC N in March 2017 before I was set to graduate in May 2017 and the rationale my recruiter gave me was the SWO board takes into consideration of Graduated vs. Will Graduate even though you may have a great GPA and there is little to no chance that you won't graduate. Long story short, although some people get accepted before they graduate, I would recommend waiting until you graduate before you reapply.
