Just shows that he's just an upstart who wants the headlines instead of building a dynasty. I remain, as always, not a fan of Lane Kiffin.

And yes, I know he was OC at USC for a long while. I still don't like him.

Auburn came calling a year or two ago and he wasn't interested. He's the "Head Coach in Waiting" for one of the best programs in the country, makes a boatload of money, and lives in a city that he and his family love. I don't think he's going to Knoxville. However, I am notoriously bad at predictions like this.

The only way our AD (Mike Hamilton) is going to keep his job is to land a fairly big name coach, and the first name on the list is Muschamp. There is no one else to snatch up. They're gonna throw everything and kitchen sink at this guy. Yes he is sitting pretty at TX, but Mack Brown just signed a 5 year extension. I think the Coach in waiting is stupid shit. Look how many times that has worked out. (Can't consider FSU a success).

I honestly dont know that much about him other than he's young and energic, likes where he is, and it will take quite a bit to make him leave.

    We'll see how things go...

People can be money-whipped, so you never know.

The Texas defense almost instantly improved the moment he showed up on campus. You are right about the enegetic part. The guy is probably more tired after a game than his starters are. He is a crazed animal on the sidelines.

What a douche ... I'm glad he's out of the SEC, the conference doesn't need he's antics. That guy is a walking violation machine.. although some can say the same about Calipari.

I agree it's a blessing in disguise for Tenn. Kiffen is a figure head, and a bad one at that. -I will give him that he knows to compensate for his antics by surrounding himself with a great coaching staff.

It will certainly hurt Tenn's recruiting for this year, but not by as much as you may think: early playing time is always attractive and Tenn has great facilities and so forth.

As far as names for the next HC, I heard Spurrier which I will have to see to believe... :p I think Fulmer couldl become the AD too. And you are right about Mauschamp: coach in waiting behind Brown is a worthless title since Brown will be there for a long time.

As for Lane -the douche- Kiffen, he is stepping in a shit pool that no one else wanted. I believe he is USC's 4th or 5th choice. No one else wanted that job bc USC is about to be sanctioned very shortly and on probation for years, and USC can't even win out in a "weak" Pac10: the other schools are beating them with half the talent on the field.

IMO, Kiffen is USC's temp coach: someone to hold the reigns for the next couple years until they can get who they really want. A Zooker, for the UF fans, if you will; but on probation.

I was extremely hesitant to see this thread after last night's shitshow. Kiffin's departure in and of itself is not that bad, it is the timing. The student body went apeshit last night, but only a part of that was at Lane. This is just another example of Mike Hamilton's retardation.

On a side note, I think Leavitt got screwed at USF and deserves to be the head coach. There's been a lot of wild coaching moves in the past week, and UF has completed their staff and really done awesome in recruiting picking up the #1 DE, #1 DT, and #1 Safety (at the Army game last week) to what was already the #1 recruiting class. :)

Texas Insiders have said Muschamp has said he would only leave his spot at Texas to coach two teams: UF or UGA. He might get a call if Urban's ticker or brain cyst, whatever the issue is, doesn't improve or Richt has another disaster of a season like '09.

Meyer will be fine and ready to go in August. He will change some of his ways, but will definitely coach. Besides, UF wouldn't go for that hire imo: we'd need someone with head coaching experience.

UGA, well, I can't imagine Richt leaving or being fired. UGA almost got Bama's DC (Smart)... now that would have been great for them; I've been saying for 3 weeks now that I wanted him for UF. :icon_wink Anyway, UGA should do better on defense no matter who coaches the defense, and they are getting top talent as always. I don't think Richt will win a NC as a HC, but he should keep curning out 9-11 win seasons, and keep his job in the process. He is in reality one of the top 5 or so head coaches.

Richt as one of the top 5 head coaches? What the hell are you smoking? Maybe top 5 head coaches in the SEC...

Agreed....Maybe not event the SEC. I'd say if he doens't step up his game within the next couple years, he'll be gone.

Maybe not even top five in the SEC? I'd rank him solidly at #3 behind Meyer & Saban. I don't know about top five, But Richt is a top 10 head coach. He just doesn't get alot of press cause he doesn't shoot his mouth off, run all over the sideline and ten yards out onto the field like a fucking maniac (Not to say that's not liked/needed from time to time).

Remember the florida end zone celebration? He's a decent coach, but he hasn't delivered a NC to UGA in 9 years. He needs to if he wants to keep his job, especially after going 8-5 last year. He'll find himself hanging out with Phil Fulmer if he doesn't.

    I said "top 5 or so." :icon_wink

I agree with VFA, he is probably the third best in the SEC; a conference with hands down the best HCs.

Ranking them out, imo, with Pete Carroll gone (former #3):

    1. Urban Meyer
    2. Nick Saben
    3a. Jim Tressel
    3b. Mack Brown
    3c. Bob Stoops
    6. Mark Richt

Phil Fulmer had two seasons (2005 and 2008, his last) where he couldn't break .500. Richt's situation isn't even close to that. And, imo, Fulmer was screwed (though he could have recruited better).

And UGA hasn't had a NC since Hershel Walker won them one as a freshman in 1980... I think they can wait a while longer. ;)

Beamer: yes, I'd take Richt over Beamer. Tough call for me on JoePa. I think Ole' Joe would have a hell of a time coaching in the SEC week in and week out. That could go either way, currently; however, bc of his history, I'd put JoePa at #6 now that you mention it.

Regardless he is easily a top 10 coach. --All just my opinion, and for the list, it was just done off the top of my head...;)

And your still considering Meyer in? Imho I believe his undefined departure/retention? was/is to retain recruits and prevent the clusterfuck that is happening in TN.

Any thoughts on this Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad thing? I'll reserve my statements for the end.
