20/20 Correctable Vision/Keratoconus

So I went to MEPS. Everything was great, or at least I thought it was. My recruiter sends me a letter he got back saying the following:
  1. Based on a review of available medical information, a medical risk assessment could not be determined.
  2. A waiver of the physical standards IS PENDING ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. Data as below may be useful in further waiver consideration:
  3. Applicant's vision failed to correct to 20/20. Please provide refraction for correction to 20/20. If unable to correct to 20/20 OU, ophthalmologic consult should be conducted. With disparate or high cylindrical values, evaluate for keratoconus, include corneal topography, and a statement regarding whether keratoconus is present or absent.
He asked me to go see an ophthalmologist and I did and they confirmed my eyesight is fine and correctable to 20/20 and no signs of keratoconus was document. I sent him the numbers for my eyesight, the doctors notes, and a statement signed by him literally saying my eyesight is correctable to 20/20 and there is no keratoconus. Should I be good to go after this is submitted? Really worried about this and don't know why the doctor at MEPS didn't let me know.

Because it’s not MEPS, it’s N3M/Navy asking you to get that eye exam. Remember MEPS’ job is to complete a military entrance physical exam so their standards might not align with the Navy. It’s happened that applicants pass the MEPS physical but fail to qualify for the Navy side.

As for your medical documents, follow up with your OR tomorrow to see if you’re medically qualified. Even while your eye exam might say you’re fine, I won’t go out of my way to say everything is GTG.

Does anyone know any info about obtaining a waiver for Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO)? I am about 20 flight's away from wings and have been med down for almost 6 months while receiving treatment. I have a medical board approaching fairly soon. My current corrected vision is 20/50 and improving. This issue only effects my left eye, right eye is perfectly healthy 20/20.

Is your case going to the CPEB for a determination for fitness for continued service, or going to PERS because you've exhausted the time available under LIMDU? Might make a big difference.

Thank you for your reply. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. I've been kind of left in the dark with the whole thing, my thinking is that they are going to assess my condition and medical records, and determine if they are going to allow me to continue to fly. I'm not sure if I am considered LIMDU, because I am still able to stand duty, do physical activity, etc. This will be the first board. My CO wrote a request for a time extension per my specialists request (non-military). He believes he will be able to get my vision to 20/20 corrected, but the condition is so rare in young people, and despite all their extensive medical testing, could not determine a cause.. they basically said it was a freak thing, and pretty much idiopathic. My vision has greatly improved and continues in that direction, they just expressed their concern about flying and being deployable being that I'm an O-2 and 20 or so flights away from getting winged. Thanks again for your help.

Talk to your flight surgeon at once and get as much information as you can. If he doesn't know what's going on, go up the chain on the medical side and find out what's going on.
This series of events will probably have a significant impact on your future. You have to get real smart on this real fast.
Let me know what you learn.

Thank you. I really appreciate your time. I have spoken with him a few times, and he doesn't seem to know much more than I do, given that he has never dealt with something like this before. But I will speak with him again, and climb the chain of command if need be. I will let you know what I find out as soon as I can. Thank you once again.
