Making Recruiting Great Again
Two questions for the ORs here:

1. I am also a future sailor in DEP. I am scheduled to ship May 21st but we might not get results before then. What happens if I don’t ship before the results are out?
2. I’m a dual citizen (Poland-U.S.). Will that impact my selection chances?

1. You can’t ship to RTC until board results come out. So... I would reach out to your enlisted and officer recruiters to ensure your ship date has been pushed back.
2. No.

I got a call from my enlisted recruiter today saying “so we were told you don’t want to go enlisted anymore?”. I explained that I’m waiting on this, and next week’s supply board results, and I asked to be rolled out. She seemed to think the results will be in tomorrow for today’s board, and told me to make up my mind if I want to still stay in or be separated from DEP.

Do you have any advice for me? Should I call my OR? He’s great, I just hate to bother him. And he’s in the same office as my enlisted recruiters so I don’t want to make it too awkward. It seems like there is a lot of misunderstanding, maybe even mistrust, between the enlisted and officer side (at least in my NRS).

At this point, I don’t want to do something on the enlisted side that will hurt my OCS enrollment down the road (assuming I’m selected). It’s clear the enlisted recruiters want me to ship and not go to OCS, and it seems like the two sides don’t really know each others’ processes.

Any feedback would be great!

Bit of a back story: my enlisted recruiters initially told me I couldn’t do OCS because I’m a dual citizen. I listened, and enrolled in DEP in Dec 17 without doing my research.

An OR caught up with me in February and told me they were wrong. So I put in an OCS packet for today’s board.

Ever since then it feels like it’s been a game to get me to ship between the two sides.

Everyone has their own quotas I guess.

I have a question regarding the board date and would appreciate any help. First, I had my package submitted for SWO on March 5th. At that time, my recruiter told me that the next SWO board was on June 12th, which puzzled me because I had downloaded the sheet of board dates for the year 2018 on the Navy.mil website, and saw that the next board date was on May 14th. I decided to call the Richmond office and get a firm answer, and this time around I was told that the board meets on June 29th. Did the date get pushed back or am I missing something here? Also, if I had my package submitted and processed on March 5th,does that mean that it automatically went to the May 14th board for consideration?

There are different boards for different designators.....so they have different submission dates. The most recent SWO board was May 14th. The submission date was April 6th. The next one is in August. Do you have an Officer Recruiter? He should be able to tell you if your packet was at the board this week.

I am aware that different designators have different board dates; in this case, I was referring specifically to the SWO board for this month. I have not been able to get ahold of my OR recently, so I was hoping that a recruiter on this website could give me confirmation that if my package was submitted a full month before April 6th, it definitely went to the May 14th board.
