12 JUN 18 IWC Board

I would definitely recommend looking into NFO. Before I talked to any OR I had my heart set on Intel but after looking into NFO I'm actually more excited to be doing that. Looks awesome and at least for this past board my flight scores weren't insanely good and I was still selected. At least worth looking into anyways.

Talked to my OR last Monday and he was "still waiting on the message" in his words. Talked to him again today and there's been no update to that. Now obviously I'm aware that the probability I was one of the 6 intel selections is low at this point, but it seems like it's taking an awfully long time just for my OR to get notified. Oh well, I'm gonna stay glued to my phone this week waiting for a call.

Same for me as well. Just playing the waiting game

Consider re-applying for SWO only, or if you’re willing take the full ASTB and give Aviation a shot.
I'd love to to do Pilot or NFO. I did well on the ASTB getting 2 7's and an 8. However, I am too blind for pilot and too deaf for NFO. My OR said I couldn't reapply for 6 months unless "major improvements" happen. Which the only thing I know I could improve on the short term is my OAR score. I have been considering enlisting, gaining some experience as well as "fleet applicant" title and reapply when I get to my first station

I was just informed by my OR that my package was going to the August Board. Checking out for now. Good luck everyone.

I got word that I didn't make the cut this time. Haven't recieved anything official but I have someone on the inside. Best of luck to everyone still waiting. At what point can I submit my next package though? 6 months from the date of the board or from the results? So if I put in for the 12th of June Board Convene date, can I put in for the 3rd of December? Since it will be 6 months by the time the results are given?

I would start considering SWO...

I'm 32 with 8 years of enlistment, so I am a little limited in my options, and I was told by someone that SWO-IP doesn't exist anymore but I saw that there was applicants. How is that possible, unless I was just miss informed.

SWO is 35 as long as you have MP or EP evals.

My last three were an transfer EP, then I was only here for 4 months before I got a P, my last one was a MP can I still do it, I feel like that hurt me this past round.

Forgot to post an update a few weeks ago, long story short I got denied. Considering the odds we're talking about here (6 people selected) I'm gonna take rufio and others' advice. Time to forget about intel and get a SWO package submitted in December. My recruiter is saying something about applying for SWO-INTEL in January... This smells like BS to me because from skimming old threads here, I was under the impression that was a super niche thing reserved for a few academy grads and/or possibly prior service folks? Might be wrong on that. Either way, I'm not interested in aviation and I'm cool with SWO, so I'm just gonna go with that and try to get another postgrad internship done before December.

edit: just saw rufio's post in this thread about swo-iwc... well that's one mystery solved.

SWO-IWC options are being limited out of the Academy as well (not sure about ROTC). USNA is opening a lot more direct CW designators to ‘19 graduates this year, and basically no SWO-CW spots (not sure about Intel). From what I’ve heard from people who work at USNA, it’s partially because both the SWO and IWC communities were being hurt by the SWO-IWC options. SWO loses them once they get their pin, IWC loses them after one or two tours (if they five and dive).

Best of luck with SWO! And if you really want, you can also always try to put in a lateral transfer package to a different community like Intel or CW in the future. Still competitive, but an option in the future if you want it.
