I can see that. Hoping to boost it up next semester. For extracurriculars, I am on the school swim team, president of the national honor society, and volunteer at a local homeless shelter. Any other feedback you have would be appreciated.

Only thing I would say is I agree that you should think about whether you really want to take the ASTB now; it would only benefit you by waiting until your last few years of school. Take math classes if you get the chance and absorb as much information in as you can. If you can do that for a few years while studying for the ASTB you'll be golden by the time you take it.

You can't do much until you graduate or are a senior so take everything a step at a time and don't rush when not necessary.

Best of luck to you.

Honestly I think taking it that early in your college career may be a disadvantage.

What are your highest levels of Math, English, Core Sciences, and History taken at the collegiate level? What are your methods in studying?

The difference between freshman me and senior me was outstanding.
I've taken Calc II, Precalc, American Military History, Greek History, and I'm taking Physics next year. I'm applying for OCS for the Marines.

Already scheduled for tommorow. I'll take the test and see how it goes. If I get a good score I'll be content and if not i'll retake it further down the line like you guys have suggested.

Honestly, I think taking it now is good while all of these classes are still fresh in your head. The very little Math I did take during college, I failed twice and had to re-take. If you feel confident you'll do good, do it and if you land a good score, keep it until you're done with college and ready to go.

If you're doing PLC then it makes total sense to take it now, I think everyone here was assuming you were doing Navy where you wouldn't be able to go to OCS till after your senior year anyways

If you actually studied that much you obviously need to change the way you were studying. Try 2 hours in the morning, 2 hours in the evening. Shoot me your email I'll send you some stuff, but those scores are below minimums if I'm not mistaken. You only get 3 chances to take the test so taking it as soon as possible also sounds like a bad idea. Take practice tests and you'd have a much better idea of what to expect

Could you send me an email with any of your study material?? Thanks m8t

Do yourself a favor, because you know you want to commission in the Marines, and call a Marine recruiter and demand to speak to the Officer Selection Officer, and then sign up for the PLC program like has been mentioned. You will do OCS in two parts while in college, commission once you graduate, and you won't have to worry about getting selected against the vast pool of OCS candidates. In four years send me a message from TBS and thank me.

Hey y'all I just finished taking my ASTB for my first time. I got a score of 50 5/8/7. I talked to my OR and he feels confident with my package I will be selected on the August board. Just a little background of my package. I played Division 1 Football for 5 years graduating with a BS in Exercise Science and Minor in Chemistry (3.40 GPA). After my playing career, I coached Football at the Division 1 level for 2 years while earning a Master's in Educational Leadership (3.80 GPA). I also did a lot of volunteer work in leadership positions while I was playing that was a national effort in raising a lot of money for the Rare Disease community. I feel with my full package and scores, I look pretty competitive in front of the Board but I could be oblivious. I am worried about the 5 in AQR too. What are your thoughts on 1) my test score in general but 2) my test score with a little sense of my package.

Just to briefly talk about my test experience for those soon to take it, it was a lot different than I had pictured it. I was pretty confident going in as well. In the Math portion I was asked around 18 questions or so. A lot of it I had not seen in any of the study guides or practice tests or info posted on here. I did have about 8 probability questions which was a shock. It also felt like I had a bunch of simplify questions. For example "Simplify (x^2 - 5)/(x + 5)" The Reading portion, basically any SAT test like the other posts say. Mine was back and forth between the solar system and Navy/Military reading. Nothing special. The Mechanical Comp part is where things started to be more what I wasnt expecting. For the mechanical comp it was all based on understanding theories around physics, identifying what certain symbols meant in a circuit and some other systems that I have never seen in my 2 years of physics. I did not have to write down a single thing for calculations or anything. My mechanical comp had 1 question with numbers involved and it was a simple 1st Class Lever question. I was expecting more math to be involved and less asking if I understood things in word based form. The ANIT was a little strange. I was kicked out after 10 questions or so. I was asked what an elevator does in 2 different forms. A couple questions about instruments and labelling things from a boat (Draft, Beam, Keel) Other than this, very simple. Nothing on types of planes, history of navy or aviation, shirt colors. Nothing like the study guides and flashcards. I was expecting it to be more on point with that. The UAV portion. I used the Compass trick on a paper. Got every question under 3 sec 100%. Just get used to being fast and as soon as you click the parking lot, the test is saying what to identify next so its rapid fire. Once I got into the part of actually using the Joy Stick and Throttle, it came pretty easy to me. Playing COD and inverting the Y Axis helped a little when it came to being able to target with Joystick. The key to that though is that I just went to the shooting range and zoomed in and practiced hitting the targets as fast as possible. Doing it while running and being inverted is way harder than the actual test. Other than that, I dumped a lot of the information out as soon as I moved to the next section that I cannot remember right now so If yall have any questions about things that may ring my memory, Id be happy to answer from my test experience. I believe this site definitely helped though so if your'e just starting out. Go through all the material on here, it will be worth it for sure.

I am worried about the 5 in AQR too. What are your thoughts on 1) my test score in general but

AQR 5 is the new Aviation min.

If your browse Aviation threads on here you'll find out the Aviation board only really look at GPA then ASTB.

The AQR pulls scores from the OAR as well so if you want to bump that up it's not just about ANIT, but about the OAR too.

Nice 8 though, I really wish I had tried the inverted shooter axis thing before going.
