I'm confused. How exactly do the controls work? Left and right are left and right? Pushing the joystick forward is nose down, pulling the joystick back is nose up? Or am I misunderstanding this?
Left and right are the same, vertical is inverted. So only one axis. If the crosshair is top right, you want to move bottom right. I wasn't prepared for this, bunt since my vision DQs me from pilot, it's not worth retaking the test.

How soon are you planning on quitting your job? Time between the ASTB and OCS for some is 4-8 months.
I'm looking to quit as soon as everything is good to go. I've got plenty of money saved from the last few years working and would rather have a few months to spend quality time with family and make getting in shape my top priority instead of performance at work.

I get that. Currently trying to save up the money to do the same, but I'm in a lease until January - so I'm saving money to buy that out and pay student loans in advance.

Just took the test last week. I felt during the test I was doing really badly but my recruiter said the scores were good to go.

OAR: 65
8/8/7
GPA 3.15 Chemical Engineer at a state school
Intramural soccer & church band for extracurriculars

I'm wanting to go for NFO and he said I'm borderline autoselect, is this the case in your experience?

Also, when do we take the NAMI physical? I'm wanting to get all my ducks in a row before I quit work and start prepping for OCS fulltime.

If it makes you feel better I was pre-selected for SNA and your stats are pretty much the same as mine.

This seems to be a more active thread for stats and scores than the ones in the "Path to Commission" area, so here goes:

OAR: 59
AQR/PFAR/FOFAR: 8/8/8
GPA: 3.053 after 7 years of college
Degree: Business Admin W/ Option in Intl Business, Graduating later this month.
LORS: An Old Scoutmaster of mine who also happens to be retired from Raytheon, Two Work Superiors who gave glowing recommendations, and one from a program director and advisor from college.
Vision: 20/17 uncorrected
First MEPS visit went very smoothly, but I'm not sure I'm adequately fit, I think I can run a 16-17 min 1.5 miles, and most likely do maximum of 40 sit-ups and 30 push-ups.

I applied for Pilot and NFO, and I believe the Board will review my packet on the 23rd of this month. I dread the response.

Do I even have a chance?

P.S. This is my first post on Air Warriors, please do not hesitate to tell me if there's anything I'm doing wrong.

Scroll around here. Your scores are solid. Here's a sample of Aviation applicants.

Where did you get this sample of Aviation applicants? Reading over it, it says it is for a May 23, 2018 board, but the top choices were selected last month?

Well, as far as I can tell we added ourselves when we either found out we were on the May 23rd board or found out about the spreadsheet.

The second part I’m not so sure about, but I believe several outstanding applicants can be auto-selected before the board convenes. There’s still a chance for them to be vetoed, however, so the board continues to review it. Or perhaps they were originally scheduled for the board and thus cut into the amount of pilots who will be selected when the board does convene.

I expect someone more experienced to correct me on this, other input would be appreciated.

Awaiting my commission in May
So, I took the ASTB yesterday. I am applying for PLC 2019 for the Marine Corps and scored a 54 6/6/7. I know for a fact these scores are sub par, but I was curious if I should take the test again. My OSO was excited and said I should have no issues getting selected as my GPA is 3.9 for a Computer Science and Math double major and my PFT is 289. I didn't study for the test any as I am trying to survive my finals at the moment. Any advice?

Retook the ASTB today, ended up scoring a 48 on the OAR and 6/9/7 on the rest. OR said I'm good to go i'm just waiting for my school to finish plus PRK wait time. Hopefully everything goes good. I think i was at a 95 on the aviation calculator.

Hello everyone! I'm brand new to the site and discovered it when I was trying to pool resources to study for the ASTB-E. I'm trying to figure out if my scores are competitive. I just took the exam yesterday and received my scores today. I would appreciate any help! (Also, sorry for any mistakes! First time posting.)

Background: I work as a high school teacher. I was a cadet in the Army JROTC (4 yrs) and I now actively volunteer as an adult at my school's JROTC program as a chaperone/volunteer/mentor.
Age: 25
Degrees: B.A. English (3.5 GPA) and M.A. Linguistics (3.9 GPA)
OAR: 52
AQR/PFAR/FOFAR: 6/5/7
Choices: Pilot/NFO/SWO (My recruitor told me that my score isn't competitive for pilot but I'd still figured I'd apply and I'm happy with either pilot or NFO. I wanted to apply for both. I don't think I'm competitive for SWO but I figured I'd still aim for it.)
LOR: 1 administrator/supervisor (employer), 2 from O-5 (Army); one of the O-5 is the head of Army JROTC affairs for the entirety of my school district.
