France's Burqa ban goes into effect.

Sure it bothers me. I'm not sure it would bother me less if somebody else bought it in my absence, given the end-state is largely the same. And we cannot out-produce them to marginalize them, not if we "rig off every beach" tried (which by the way, I think would be great anyways). Believe...

France's Burqa ban goes into effect.

I know what you are getting at, but IIRC, the vast majority of Alaskan production (for instance) ends up in the far East. This isn't like corn where we can dial it up and down completely at a whim domestically.

    FY'11 OCS Board Schedule

^^ Last I'd heard, there was only going to be an April board for 2011, but that has clearly changed. I didn't mean to speak to reliability, just tempering my hopes.

F-35B/C Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter)

Stupid question: What was more important to the Marine Corps' adoption of a STOVL fixed wing attack craft: a) the ability to operate off amphibious ships, or b) the ability to operate on short / unimproved airfields ashore?
  9. E

F-35B/C Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter)

Are Marine STOVL strike fighters meant to operate without airborne early warning, command and control, and all the other support a big carrier provides? Differentiation seems to be very important, but could it also be prohibitively expensive for a "seldom-used" capability, (especially if...

    TSA or T&A ???

Is it really though? I have some trouble believing it is really a problem at all, but I don't know any of the specifics of these machines and I've long since forgotten the particulars of back-scatter detection in general. I stood in one before this all became a big deal, so joke's on me I...

    12 Dead, 31 Wounded @ FT HOOD

Sadistic? Dunno. What I do know, is I think less of Middle Eastern legal systems (and consequentially their cultures) because they encourage the kind of nonsense you seem to perscribe above. It is exactly the zero-sum, feud-fueling mentality that keeps that part of the world from playing...

Some cultures just find themselves beeing rebooted from time to time. It's ok. I'm beginning to believe they just don't last that long or really providd that much value on their own anyways. :)

    Question for an Old Salt

Enlisting to go BUDS with a college degree, attriting, and going on to flight school is not unheard of. Pretty sure a guy on this board did it. Also heard a story about a guy from my home town who was getting PT'd in the surf, looked up and saw jets, DOR'd and went on to fly Marines.

Afghan Gold!! There's gold in them thar Afghan hills !!!

Rare earths are only occasionally used in very specific types of batteries. China has a monopoly on rare earth metals, not lithium. It takes many years and lots of capital to develop a mine before it even begins to produce under favorable conditions. Security considerations certainly...

You may want to go to a specialist and have a methacholine challenge test done. Test can be expensive though. If safely able, continue to work your cardio and these "asthmatic" symptoms may even go away. I'm curious, when was the last time you actually used the inhaler, and in what kind...
