    Marine OSO in DC area?

I just thought I'd weigh in on the Hyattsvile Navy Office... I applied for OCS in INTEL/SWO/CRYPTO My experience is similar to Brooke's, i had OAR of 50, AQR 5. Chief told me my scores were competitive, and led me to believe that my whole package was strong. But after reading some of the...

    Astronaut Possibilities?

There is a NASA website devoted to astronaut recruiting too. Sorry, I don't have the link, but it's an easy google search. Just to add to the discussion, NASA claims that ANY sort of laser surgery is DISqualifying. (PRK, LASIK, whatever). I think this is true, even if you got a waiver from...

    BDCP

There's nothing that says you can't apply to both, but BDCP is a Navy program, and PLC is Marine Corps...I don't know if that changes anything for you, but it might. A BDCP application is idenitical to any other OCS app. It includes all post secondary (undergrad, and grad) transcripts, ASTB...

    BDCP

NO... You can only be one of those things, NROTC, BDCP, or PLC... If you were a BDCP candidate, then you have a committment to the NAVY anyway, and could not enter PLC with the Marine Corps. You will ulitmately have to decide how importnat it is for you to be in the Navy, or a pilot in the...

    BDCP

You will have 3 choices on your application. You can decide to fill it out in a number of ways. Some people just put one choice cause that's all they want. If you can get excited about 3 different designators, you have three chances at getting selected. Youll find some posts on here, and at...

    BDCP

I honestly don't know about the requirements for NROTC. If you can only do it for two years, then it might be an option. You can apply to BDCP later also, even in your junior year. I am appling now, during my second to last semester. It's not advised, but it's still possible. When you apply...

    BDCP

Depending on your major, you can apply earlier. technical majors can apply w/i 36 months of graduation non-technical majors : 24 months. yeah, and you definitely cannot be a ROTC student of any kind and apply for BDCP. In my opinion, BDCP would be the best, cuz you get a NICE paychek (E-3)...

    prt standards for BDCP/OCS applicants

I'm applying BDCP too.. and have wodererd the same thing. Go to http://www.bupers.navy.mil there's a link to new PRT standards. I think you should plan to get at least a "good low." Since the PRT and your physical are factors that will finalize your package, your PRT should be as good as...

    Digital Camera Question..

What do you guys know about bringing an item like a digital camera to OCS? Is it considered contraband? I suppose you could keep it in your car, but could you keep it, (or any camera for tha matter) in your locker?

    December 17 Board

Sorry... The PORT report is issued daily from MIllington. It contains information about which packages have been received/are being reviewed. It also is the means by which your recruiter will tell you if you have been pro-rec'd
  16. A

OCS selection process (NFO first choice)

wink.. I am under the impression from my recruiter that the PORT report does provide a status. That is, it lists a date received, ASTB scores, date reviewed by selection boards, and any pro rec's
  17. A

    December 17 Board

BUPERS isn't public with dates for civilian selection, only active and reserve duty promotion. But you recruiter can tell you whether your application has been received by any boards. It's included on the PORT report

    December 17 Board

My package was sent to Millington in the first week of November!! I submitted for INTEL/SWO/CRYPTO. I'm applying for BDCP, so I think that means I come under a different set of boards. Anyway, as of now, I only know that I was declared non-select for SWO. But my recruiter claims that my...

    OCS uniforms navy

They do give you haircuts. The Navy wants to keep its people looking sharp. Now, all joking aside, your question WAS pretty rediculous. The uninformed civilian needs only to watch ANY military movie (full metal jacket, etc) to see that trainees have almost zero hair.

    pro rec'd

pro rec'd means professional recommended. It's the first step in gettting accepted to OCS. When you submit your package to the CNRC (recruiting command) they will review your app based on all the stuff you submitted (GPA, test score, LOR (letters of recommendation), personal statement, etc)...

    OCS Chances?

This is simply an impossible question to answer. People on this board with higher GPA's have been rejected, but people wil lower GPA's have been accepted. Intel is competitive now. My recruiter told me a couple weeks ago that the Intel board had 90 some packages on thier desk Good Luck...

    Calling CNRC

I've read on usnavyocs.com that some active duty applicants have been calling Ed Phillips in Millington to get questions answered. Since BDCPs are essentially active duty E-3's is he the guy for a BDCP applicant to call? Or is there someone else?

    BDCP SELECTION

Does anyone know if there are SEPARATE selection boards for BDCP apps? Or does the regular board for each designator consider applicants for BDCP?
  34. A

When does the selection board meet?

wigs... My recruiter said that apps are considered for each designator by seperate boards. He said the SWO had rejected me for BDCP, but that I shoul reapply (as in NON-BDCP). My other two designators, (INTEL and CRPYTO) are still out. CNRC (recruiting command) notified him of thier...

Jobs tough to get into in the Navy

Hard to get into, as in do, and be sucessful is different from hard to get selected. I think this largely depends on how competitive the field is for specific designators at any given time. Right now, the tighest ones seem to be (in no particular order) SWO INTEL PILOT/NFO SUBWAR designator...
  37. A

    Tests before applying

ALL Officer applicants take the ASTB. Different designators require different sections. Aviation Candidates take the whole damn thing. Intel takes math/verbal, mechanical comp, and spatial apperception. All others just take math/verbal and mechanical comp. The 5 parts are. Math/verbal...

What do you think is the best Navy automobile?

What a weird topic....I would assume, BUY WHATEVER YOU WANT! That seems to work in the civilian sector, and I think this is one area where civilian and military lifestyles are similar (Not meant to be angry, just my response)

    Any atheists on this board?

Nash.. I respect that you believe there to be NO absolutes, but i see a logical fallacy in making that conclusion: You are, in effect saying, "I absolutely believe that there are no absolutes." The problem with relativism is that you must at some point say, "It's universally true that nothing...
