    A couple Q's

Just wondering what programs y'all who are waiting really, really long are going in for. Anybody care to enlighten. It'd be a nifty poll, perhaps.

    OAR score rquirements

Personally, I would listen to what the recruiter has to say. I don't know what you're looking to go into, but everywhere I read is that 50 is generally what's needed to be competitive. Remember, you're competing against other candidates. My GPA may be only a 3.7, but I have a professional...

    Lie about my PRK?

Hmm.... How many docs you had look at the PRK and say they can't see it? And I mean those who are trying to find such things, but aren't sure you have it or not. What're the going penalties now for lying on the forms? Never mention every doc that'll check you out. Lots of things I'll bet on...

    Personal Statement

I wonder what they'll think of mine. It sounds like cheese, but I think it's because I was brought up in an Intel and Public Service lifestyle around military with an uncle who was in the Navy. So applying for Intel Officer just seems normal. :-) Meanwhile my slightly less-disciplined and more...

    USN or USNR

Ok, I decided to do a little research on http://www.staynavy.navy.mil/ If you use the tool Research Duty Assignments, it lists 1635 from O-1 to O-4, and 1630 starts to be listed at O-3 (through O-6, where the tool stops), and 1637 at O-4 and O-5.

    Ribbons while in BDCP

Ok, now can anybody provide the long answer on how to go about doing such things?

    Ribbons while in BDCP

I was wondering if anyone knew whether once we're in BDCP (and racking up the AD time), if we could earn ribbons? I've read of enlisted DEPers earning awards and such for helping out with recruitment, etc., and while I know we can do the pistol quals at OCS, if we could do it beforehand, that'd...

    Tandem couples?

Has anyone tried this? I'm asking because I'm busting my butt to get into BDCP and my wife is trying to apply for OCS. We're mildly insane, but that's ok. Anyway, I've read about a lot of the "fun" for couples where one is in, but any advice about both being in would be appreciated.

    BDCP program time frame

While I don't have my own timeline to compare with, I can tell you what my recruiter has told me. From the time they get all your advance paperwork together and submit it, it can be a week to a month to find out if you've been accepted to that level. After your advance stuff comes back, you've...

    Navy Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program

I'm not in... yet. I've pretty much got all the paperwork done, barring one last vision check, another copy of my transcript, and my PRT. My recruiter thinks I have a pretty good shot since I'm going for intelligence with a double-major, a GPA of 3.71, OAR 65, management experience, and letters...

    Navy Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program

The number of credits depends on whether you're going for a technical or non-technical degree. With a technical degree you can get 36 months, hence with 30 credits, you should be 1/4 of the way to graduation. With non-technical, you need to have two years or less left. And it is quite competitive.

    Hoping to get BDCP

Not only does MEPS like to fail you, they also like to make you wait forever if you get something fixed. Do you have a Naval Reserve around? Can you get a doc there to talk to? Instead of blowing a whole day and having them prod me and analyze everything (like happened at MEPS, even though I...

I have a serious issue, will I get in OCS?

Regarding the pleading guilty, the big question I'd have, as far as the integrity issue goes, is did you decide it yourself, or were you advised? I don't know how they'll view it, but in my experience from all manner of applications judging integrity, making a bad decision on bad advice is far...

    Pay and Expenses at OCS

Ok, here's a doozy. I'm working on going into BDCP, whereas my wife is applying directly to OCS. Until she goes, I'll get paid married BAH, which covers housing expenses here. I know that when we're both in, we're supposed to each get paid single BAH, instead of married. While she's at OCS...

    ASTB Form 2

Finished taking my ASTB today. My advice is definitely to read the gouge here. (If you don't know where to find it, look up top, click on "Forums Menu" and choose File Library - download all the ASTB PDFs.) Only thing I noticed today that I didn't see in the gouge was stuff on sine, cosine...

    Foreign university scores

For anyone following up, here's what I've found out. If you do go overseas and get lower scores there, transfer your credits back. If you're lucky like me, you go to a school that doesn't count transfer GPA, just credits. (I'm at a BIG school!) After a bit of whining, begging, and pleading...

    Question for all you BDCPites

I don't know how it is for others, but for me, passing the PRT at this point it the difficult problem, that is passing within the time frame that I've got sitting in front of me. I have basically two months, if that, to go from my previous sedentary lifestyle to being able to run. While sit-ups...

    Foreign university scores

Hello everyone! I'm looking into BDCP and my recruiter says based on my scores here, I'm looking like a good candidate for Intel. However, he has yet to go over my scores that I had from overseas. Anybody know anything about how they weight those? My overseas coursework was done in Finland...
