    Jan/Feb/Mar Boards

Anybody else heard something like this? I'm applying for the Jan. board for NFO and Supply. My recruiter called yesterday and said he was going to put Pilot down on my application as well as NFO. My eyes aren't anywhere near good enough for Pilot but his rationale was that once I got in and...

    Jan/Feb/Mar Boards

Lucy - Yeah my vision isn't anywhere near good enough to fly - I thought about PRK but honestly I think I'd like NFO just as much if not more so? Just a general question - from what my recruiter says, if I get selected at the January board I can expect an OCS date between July-September 2012 -...

    Motivational Statement MEGA Thread

Again, thanks for all the feedback! Definitely flows better now! Quick question: When is officer capitalized? The sample moto statements my recruiter gave me have most of the officers capitalized? Ok round 3 ... Fire away (BTW: I decided to keep the 1st paragraph, in a much revamped form, bc...

    Motivational Statement MEGA Thread

Thanks for the input! I originally took out the middle paragraph - apparently not a good idea! Round 2 ... As far back as I can remember I have had nothing but the deepest respect for those who have served our country. I first seriously considered serving in the military when, during college...

    Motivational Statement MEGA Thread

Here's a rough draft - fire away! Having grown up in the Midwest with no prior-service family members, it may seem a little odd that I would want to become an Officer in the United States Navy. I have always admired the mission of the military but did not seriously consider becoming a part of...

    Pre-OCS PRT suspended?

Just talked to my recruiter - sounds like there was a conference call today about this. We should here something definite soon but it sounds like the PRT might be made voluntary before OCS?

    Flying with beer

As somebody who used to work as ground crew for an airline, don't put anything even mildly breakable in your luggage .. I've literally seen guys jump up and down on bags ... granted that particular passenger yelled at the check-in girl for a good half-hour but even still ... Use lots of padding...

What is it like to be an NFO?

So basically the NFO aims the 'gun' and the pilot pulls the trigger? Another NFO question - would you say that NFO's have similar career opportunities after the Navy as pilots? (Besides flying for the airlines)

All you want to know about being a "chop" (Ask your STuPId Supply questions here)

While in port for a port visit can supply officers leave the ship and see the sights like the other officers? Or do they have to stay with the ship and help with re-supply?

Coast Guard Aviation Selection out of OCS

So you're saying the guy with an ASTB of say, 8/8/8 has no advantage over the guy with 4/6/6 (minimum)? Not trying to sell myself short on how well I'll do in OCS - its just with the current selection rates I got a feeling the competition is going to be tough!

Coast Guard Aviation Selection out of OCS

From what I've read on here and coastguardocs.org it sounds like you get selected for flight training out of OCS based on your performance at OCS and your ASTB score - my question is how much is each part of that weighted and what exactly does performance at OCS mean? Is it based off of...

Topper Harley's PRK surgery and financing.

A day in the life as a CG Aviator?

USCG Officer Job Descriptions Does anybody on here know where i can find actual job descriptions for Coast Guard Officers? All i can find is very vague (1-2 word) billet descriptions - doesn't exactly give you an idea of what the day-to-day life is like ... Reason i ask: from what i've heard...

PRK in CSPI Yeah I'm from the midwest - we got 2 guys covering all of MN, IA, ND, SD and half of wisconsin ... It's a little hard to get ahold of them sometimes! I already asked this question on coastguardocs.org but figured i'd ask here too -- anybody know about getting PRK during CSPI? Is...

USCG flight school questions (stupid & otherwise)

USCG flight school questions (stupid & otherwise)

I've been emailing a recruiter and was asking him about my options with regards to OCS/CSPI. When I asked him about the possibility of me flying, especially since my eyes are around 20/200, he said maybe I should consider the Army ... he's a recruiter .. his job is help people join the Coast...

Supply Corps - career opportunities on the outside

Lol no -- the contractual service committment is 4 years but I'm just wondering how long it takes before this career choice starts to pay off on the outside - it looks like 6-10? So probably a couple sea tours with a shore tour thrown in there somewhere?

Supply Corps - career opportunities on the outside

I've heard some of the stories about how supply officers can land great, high-paying jobs after their Navy careers. Marine Corps Career

Ok so basically the first six years after wings are 3 years in the fleet then 3 years in some sort of ground billet? Is that what a B-billet is? Sorry if these questions seem sort of ignorant - just trying to get a clear picture of what I'm signing up for.
