kmac, The issue was cracks in the bracket that holds the rudders in position. They downed the whole fleet once because they found the cracks in ONE rudder bracket and checked them all in a couple hour inspection. Two days later, they downed the entire fleet again because they they decided it...

I hate to be a nay-sayer, but $110 for a pen with a light on it is pretty expensive. You can buy the exact same thing from the tactical shop at Pensacola NAS except the light is red and the body is plastic, not metal, for about $8. ***** That being said... I love gadgets and may buy one.

I want to get the best grades possible. Knowing the instructor who I will be working with, his grading habits, his experience, and what to expect all seem like relevant information for making the best of this experience.

I don't know how many are denied entrance but I will say that I've heard stories of classes of 50ish graduating mid 20's. Chance you guys are in the same graduating class? Slim chance that you'd even be in the same class, depending on when you applied. If you happened to start on the same day...

Don't worry too much about that little poll either. If you ant this enough you just gotta go out there and get the things done to make it happen. Spend a lot of time studying for the ASTB and make your grades better. That's the biggest thing you need to do.

I was mostly focused on the aviation aspect, not what you're going into so I don't know how low they will go on the ASTB. You seem well rounded... however that is an abysmally low ASTB and I would highly recommend retaking it. Yeah and I second the pointlessness of this thread.

Congrats! I'm in the same boat... my guess is that a final selection board meets this week. So it should be posted by the end of the week online with the letters in the mail. I've been dying to get in touch with my recruiter but I need to wait till Friday.

Yeah I had to sign a bunch when things first started going in regards to the security check. The last 4 were somewhat of a surprise, considering how many I had already signed, but they apparently were the last step before they begin the investigation.

I signed my SF86 before it was faxed in. Then about 2 months later I was given another 4 sheets of paper to sign before my investigation was officially begun.

I can't help you with the questions you actually asked, but I will say, it may be a bit early to be giving your notice. You haven't applied yet. You may have great scores and get in, but it's going to be a lot longer than 2 months till you get to OCS, keep that in mind. I applied in October and...

I'm not 100% on this, but I don't think you can print it out. It's submitted electronically and then your recruiter will print it out on his end and have you sign it. Yup, I was wrong, ignore this.

Waivers completed, JPAS accepted last Friday, everything is done except for the date I leave. Anyone have any idea how long it should take to receive an OCS date after medical and security is done?

AS far as my surgery goes... I didn't have any specific paperwork to fill out. I simply gave all my pre and post op eye information to my OR and he made it happen. Also, when I was applying to the position, I was about 8-9 months post-op so those time limits did not concern me. Sorry if that...
