Nice but I'll post mine first, 2531...the G19s will be 2501-5000. Put 500 rounds through her today, FMJ and JHP, no issues, standard Glock.

USAF to USN Inter-Service Transfer for Color Vision

I was going to say, go Navy. Granted, I've been retired for a year and a half but doubt it had changed that much. Does the Navy still rely on the Falant color vision test? Thank God for that test as I was able to fly navy for twenty years but would never have stepped foot in an AF aircraft...

My Latest Purchase (or just pictures of your current guns)

Picked up the guns I ordered while in Afghanistan...a Sig 556xi, C39 Sporter AK, a Sig 229R, a CPO Sig 229 in 40, a Gen 3 Glock 19 with factory TB and finally, SS Walther PPX for my brother.

My Latest Purchase (or just pictures of your current guns)

Purchased these two Sig's before I left for Afghanistan, so they are in the can't wait to shoot when I come back category. Now I'm a self admitted Sig-a-holic so both guns are Sig's obviously. Anyway, the first is the new Sig 556xi. It's their latest version of the 556 rifle, a modular...

The high demand for civilian pilots

Brother, I'll believe it when I see it. So far, my flying time in the military hasn't made a dent, granted I'm behind the power curve with only 3,200 hours.

The high demand for civilian pilots

The Regionals need pilots, the Legacies not so much. Well, they need pilots but have plenty of applicants. For example, United will hire 600 pilots out of a pilot pool of 12,000 applicants (straight from United's mouth). American, 300-400 with about the same number of apps. I know many...

Former NASA Astronaut, Jim Bagian and myself... My G17 took a beating, had sand, gravel, dirt all in it but functioned perfectly with some crappy ammo...namely Wolf steel cased ammo. I ended up using it in another brand gun and it jammed due to the ammo on the 5th round. In honor of my...

...I attended the Pistol 250 course last week. Tons of fun and of course, you learn that you really don't know how to shoot or at least have a lot to learn for regular guys like me. I brought my Zev Tech Tier 1 Gen 3 G17 but I put the stock springs in it but still has a 4.2lb trigger pull with...

BIG CHANGES coming to the NROTC Scholarship

    Modified Self-Defense guns

I actually asked Mr Ayoob on Glocktalk about this and he is big into not making a trigger lighter than the "advertised" stock pull. My Glocks were actually around 6.6lbs and with 3.5lb connector, the pull is still above stock, just smoother. He said he has never seen a case where making a...

The Great, Constantly Changing Video Thread...

Here's one of the preserved T-2C Buckeye's at Davis Monthan AFB. I flew it four times on 6 Feb, 4 March, 10 April, 16 May and 28 June...all in 1996. Kind of ugly but one of the most fun planes to fly, no limits to what it could do with those big, fat straight wings.

    Modified Self-Defense guns

My home defense has a 3.5lb connector but otherwise stock. Plenty of information on modded versus stock guns....still no clear definite case of someone getting into trouble using a modded handgun though I'm sure it's out there. With that said, I would not carry a gun that has a 3.5lb...

Expensive for a Glock but I went ahead and purchased it....glad I did. It's a Gen 3 G17 modded by Zev Tech, their Tier 1 mods. That includes the Zev Tech Duty Flucrum trigger, stippling, Zev Tech sights and polished internals. The trigger is rated at 3.5lbs and I measured it, two pulls were...

Re-select E2/C2 out of primary again for FY13 studs?

Mortal enemies become friends...F-4 driver friends MiG-21 pilot he shot down in Vietnam

http://mag.newsweek.com/2013/11/08/mortal-enemies-facebook-friends.html Great story, I've read the fight too, good dogfight. The F-4 in the background is the actual Phantom Cherry was flying when he shot down the MiG-21. The MiG pilot had shot down an RF-4 months earlier as well.
  27. bunk22

Re-select E2/C2 out of primary again for FY13 studs?

The VT's are about production while the FRS is more about putting a quality product through (within reason). The Hornet FRS's had a higher attrition rate than any of the other FRS's, from what I recall from a few briefs. VAW-120 had almost no pilot attrition but for obvious reasons.

Re-select E2/C2 out of primary again for FY13 studs?

E2/C2 pilots can go back and be jet IP's as they go through intermediate jets. You will start out as an intermediate jet IP but can progress to teaching advanced jet. It's all timing, there may be plenty of slots and there may not be as well. For example, we had a class of 10 students, 6 E2...

Re-select E2/C2 out of primary again for FY13 studs?

Old thread but IMO, being a former COD pilot and student who selected E2/C2 out of primary, I believe it's the right thing to do. Of course at the time when I selected, I felt differently as I definitely wanted jets BUT after being a T-45 IP, it seems the community tended to get only the lower...

Are There Any "Good Gigs" Left?

My last 3 tours in the Navy before retirement were good gigs. Of course good is relative as some folks feel making O-5 or command is it and thus will do the hard tours, hard jobs to get that done. I could have cared less, just wanted to fly. Every job in life has good and bad. Two years ago, I was on a cross country with a student in the T-45C Goshawk and we stopped for fuel at an FBO. It was Friday and very busy this day, lots of civilian aircraft and crew lounging, sitting around. There were probably 15 civilian pilots wearing...
