Anyone that was part of Company K, 1st Increment, last summer will remember this one... Cand.First.Sgt : "Cand.Plt.Sgts, take charge of your platoons... and" (looks around and doesn't know what command to give)... "march them that way!" (comes from POA and points both arms in direction of...

I know the thread is a year old, but I figured I'd keep the thread going. Happy 229th Marines! I posted this topic a year ago before I went to OCS. Now that I've been to OCS I can only appreciate the Corps even more. Toasts to the United States Marine Corps! Oorah!

    ASTB help

Speaking of the physic question, there was one on the ASTB Version 3 that said something along the lines of: I you had two tennis balls and held them over a 10 story building, and you dropped one straight down and tossed the other horizontally first, but released them at the same time, which...

    OCS quotes

I think every staff at OCS said this one... Gy Sgt: "Which way does the Sh^t roll?" Candidates: "Down hill, Gy. Sgt." Gy Sgt: "And who's at the bottom?" Candidates: "These candidates, Gy Sgt."

    Leadership Billets

Yea, you'll see it. Just like the posts above said, make sure the candidate rank structure is working. If you're Platoon Commander, make sure you're Plt Sgt and 3 Squad Leaders are on point. Our staff called it "gaffing" one another off when someone would screw the person in a billet just...

    OCS quotes

Those quotes can only come from one man... Gunny Sgt. Whobrey. I think one of the best ones he had was "Two silver wings, head cocked to the right, ka ka!" Talking to a candidate about going to see the Col. I also remember him running up and down the highway on the night hump, pitch dark, and...

    Don't be 'That guy'

I had the privelage (if you can call that) of hearing this story first hand. There were several times, like the bologna dripping into the jug, where I almost seriously threw up. What a nasty human being. Thanks for the laughs, Beetle! It was a good time.

    Christians going into the service?

I'm a Christian that just got back from PLC Jrs a couple of weeks ago, and can say that religion was very respected there. Every night we had a lay reader pray for us, and there were religous services offered on sunday and one week night during the week called prayer and praise.

    That freakin' bridge

What's worse is having one of the instructors walk over it with you while a train is going under. He picks out a random candidate close by and plays the freedom train game... Life at OCS

To second what UORBulldog mentioned, don't buy the 8 hour a night deal. Atleast, I never got it. Sure, you can sleep all 8 of those hours, no one is going to stop you, but you won't have any of your other things ready to go. Personally, this is what I did. I just got back on friday from Jrs, so...
