    Airline transition, Where to?

Glad you like the airlines HAL. I would be too if I could have gotten hired again after getting furloughed. So I'll put up with the beeper, actually it's not a beeper, the company bought me a cool phone with unlimited usage. I keep having to call in to see if there is any flying to be done. Not...

Blue Angels at San Francisco Fleet Week 2007

Don't believe rumors, Larry does not own a helo. ORCL closed at 22.51 today, but hey, that's only a $12,056,595.80 difference per penny!

Zeta liners and other helmet goodies

The hush kits are good, tell the PRs you want them, need them, gotta have them or you will go deaf. I didn't like dew rags so I just gave the helmet a shot of Lysol after each flight and washed the zeta every time it started crawling away.

    Goshawk flyby

Story goes the pilot was FNAEB'd so in retaliation the rest of the east coast Hornet community stopped supporting flyby requests for a while. The Goshawks were from 21, Tampa Bucs game, 2003. The flight lead gave them exactly what they wanted.

Mamacat, I could blow some smoke up your skirt to make you feel better but, sorry that's not my job. My job is to train your boy how to fly, and how to use his jet according to our national policy. He is getting the best flight training available in the world and I promise you, I take a...

As a T-2 stud a million years ago I flew a helo on some exchange thing we had with the Army. I couldn't hover worth a damn but straight and level was easy. I thought it was cool to go 90 kts at 10 feet AGL, but then I can drive faster than that, lower than that. Of course 600+ below 100' in the...

Any general hints, lesson learned, gouge for RIs??

What 46 said and concerning AVIATE...learn to fly the plane/jet smooth. May sound silly but trust me, the smoother you fly the better the grades. Smooth means TRIM the jet up so it will do the flying for you. Yes you are still in control but you will have more time to think about other stuff and...

    Crud

Crud is played with a pool table and 2 balls and no cues. 2 teams with 3-5 players per team battle it out in a contest that is a cross between hockey and pro wrestling.
  36. BeanFighter

    Crud

Crud is a great game if your squadron gets into it. But, many don't have the inclination or even the opportunity to play. My old Marine hornet squadron played with the Air force in Kunsan whenever we could, or when a fellow UDP squadron was in Iwakuni. Now here in K-rock we try to have a...

Time & Place to discuss Mishaps

    Something strange about this picture...

Not a bolter, this is a shot off the fwd cat. You are correct about the use of AB. This is probably a launch directly into the pattern for another trap and the pilot just dropped his hook right after the launch. Left turn towards the pattern vise right to clear the CV off the right cat.

    Military Life of USMC Pilot

Marine jet hours are about 200 per year in the fleet, 400ish per year in the training command. I'm typical, 100 hours in the RAG, 600 hours during three years at Iwakuni, and now 1100+ in three years of instructing at K'rock.
