I would go ahead and apply as soon as you are able to apply. You can always reapply. The only limit, that I am aware of, is the amount of times you can retake the ASTB (3 times). Get it done early that way you can relax and as tiz84 put it ..."the more peace of mind you'll have".

Hmmm, I havn't heard about the ass-to-knee standard. Does it apply to all Navy aircraft? It makes sense I guess, though.

Hmmm...I thought just regular PRK did not remove the epithelium at all, which was why the Navy wanted it. I thought it just did the laser burns on the surface...I guess I was incorrect. Congrats on your progess! That's awesome news. What was your vision before you went in? (20/?)

Yeah, I've heard that alot of guys now are wanting the big planes over the smaller fighters...so that they are set up for flying commercial when they get out of the service. Altleast not everyone wants the same thing, now, whether it be F/A-18s, E-2Cs, C-2s, etc... Who here does not want jets...
