    NROTC commitment now 5 years

I understand the line about recouping rising tuition rates... but it's funny how the new commitment is five years... and so is the nuke commitment!

    Oakley Military and Government Sales

Does anyone have experience ordering prescription frames with the clear lenses? I'm thinking of ordering a pair of the Volts as a replacement for my cheap lenscrafters ones, but I was wondering if the clear lenses they put in are the same as the ones you'd get at lenscrafters or pearle vision...

    NROTC Scholarship Budget Crisis

I've heard the tier thing is only for incoming students. I've also heard of some of our students still waiting to see if they've been awarded scholarships, some with GPA's in the 3.7/3.8 area of technical majors. Sounds like they're not sure how many scholarships they can give out for current...

    Are Pilots Born?

My first few years in college I would rig a hockey helmet with a makeshift mask or mic and sit in front of the TV with Top Gun on and a computer joystick. Wait, I mean I did that when I was 5 or 6...

I am learning how much funding and flight hours squadrons have... but am also having a great time. It's great being out of the ROTC nonsense and in the real Navy for a bit. My NROTC turned into a SWO factory for the last year... so for all of the disenchanted freshman/sophomores/juniors...

Question about Tiers / Chances of getting NROTC Scholarship

Well, I would normally disagree with you, but I guess with the new tiering system it's partially accurate. In the grand scheme of things, compared to a moderate size state school, USNA is fairly limited in choice of study. There are a lot of majors that aren't offered at the Academy, and for a...

Can't believe I just noticed this.

Arizona State gets NROTC in 2010

I'm pretty happy about seeing ASU get NROTC, but I'm kind of wondering why, especially if they already have some AZ schools represented. There seems to be a lot of good schools that could use a program and are close to some Navy areas. URI, Hawaii, UConn... I always wonder why there aren't...

Yeah, I want to know how you found out as well! I put in for aviation afloat, aviation ashore, then any type of overseas surface, all first phase. Tips for running because I suck.

What helped me the most was getting older and having the run times go down. Also, I found changing from an endurance based run to interval or fartlek style runs. Just keep changing it up; sprints, distance runs, etc., it keeps you from hitting a plateau in your training. If it's possible...

NROTC options if I do not receive the scholarship

Yes, be vary aware. The first one is VERY competitive to pick up out of NROTC, the other two are generally not offered directly out of NROTC. You can try to transfer into the communities later, though.

    Physics grade??

When a class is transferred in your "regular" university gives credit for the class. For instance, I know people who took Calc I/II over the summer and transferred it in. UMaine gave credit, and subsequently it counted for the Navy requirement. It only works, and this is speaking from the...

    Physics grade??

I'm not a STA-21 person, so I don't know if the same rules apply, but I have been told that I need university credit for Calc I/II, Physics I/II. For instance, at UMaine, it's a "C-" to move on to Physics II and a "D" for credit (though engineering majors need "C"s in both). As long as the...

    Army Aviation?

If you want to be in the Army. If you get decent grades you have a very good chance at picking up a 3/3.5 year scholarship. If one or two semesters of paying your way are enough to dissuade you from being in the Navy, then I guess that's your answer. From my Army ROTC friends, I hear that...

Compared to the billions of people with business degrees who are assistant managers at Tom's Gas-n-go? You're placing wayyyy too much emphasis on the degree rather than what the person does in college to augment it and their drive for work. If someone's only reason for breathing is obscure...
