    Going On Leave At/Before NIFE

I would recommend you personally talk to the person who approves leave, and explain your desires so that when your leave pops into his/her inbox, it’s not a surprise. They can also tell you the pre-travel requirements for international travel. Consider it greasing the wheels before you set it...

Understand, but since you did opt for a FNAEB over DOR’ing, the conversation has changed and I’d offer that’s where you start the next discussion with those DHs you’ve talked with. Topic: if you get a multi transition, how do you navigate it. And I’d also offer if and when you get to your...

In my enlisted days flying the C-2 COD, several of the loadmasters I flew with had previously served in VXE-6 and really enjoyed the mission. I had one of my fellow AEs go to aircrew school and chose to be a FE on the VXE-6 C-130s. By the time I left CODs, VXE-6 was already on the sundown...

When I was OPSO at VT86, we lost a T-39, and while the jet was down, we did pure sim instruction. It was difficult for both the students and instructors. No flight time is not good.

    Random Griz Aviation Musings

I think they wanted to teach the students under the fly-faster model…at least faster then the T-34. Kind of like the first CQ launch, turn downwind, then trap. My first trip around the pattern in the Prowler, I think I was hanging on to the tail stab. What a fast pace rush.

I received a few hours in the right seat of the T-1A Jaybird during my NFO flight training in VT-4 Intermediate. That plane turns slow, and if you overbank, Bitchin' Betty will tell you "Bank Angle...Bank Angle". The T-39 was much more agile. Looks like the AF is still using a modified T-1A...

Flight hours in 44 different types of aircraft

    BTW, as a career Navy guy, my enlisted and officer flights include 12 different aircraft: C-12, B-200, C-2A, UH-3A, T-34C, T-1, T-39N & G, EA-6B, S-3B, F-4, F/A-18F. This doesn’t included flying a friend’s Cessna or my other friend’s T-34A. So, 44 as a test pilot isn’t that unusual.
