If they're CQing, why do they have weapons loaded? If they aren't CQing, why are they making ball calls during a case I recovery. In either scenario, why is paddles telling them to call the ball?
Because if they did zip-lip, no one could make believe they were an LSO . . . :)

Where did anyone get the idea that the LSO says "in close"? And do these guys have any idea what max trap means? Does the sim give you 904s? So many questions.

Over the last few days, I've been toying with the idea of grabbing X-Plane to do some instrument proficiency while I hang out in limbo. Really, having a 430 or 750 simulator that I can shoot approaches with is what I need. In doing some research, it's led me to YT videos of people showing THE DEFINITIVE WAY to start helicopter x up(!!!!).

It's amazing the amount of energy put into arguing things like whether you should turn on the collision lights BEFORE (!!!!) turning on the battery. It quickly becomes clear that these same people don't really understand what they're explaining to the world when they say things like, "You would never want to start a helicopter with the rotor brake on," or can't properly pronounce the word "pitot."
So long story short you got X-plane and you're going to make a YouTube video of how "it's really done?" Maybe with some NATOPS trivia of what bus powers what, the XX functions of the EDECU/DECU, and how many pieces of wood are in the helo?

Don't forget the 13 places where you service it with nitrogen or whatever the number is, the names of the various electric relays that some schmuck cut-and-pasted from the tech manual into the original draft NATOPS about thirty years ago, what kind of plastic the center windshield is made out of...

(I know the stump the chump trivia/shenanigans are way, way down from when I was in a fleet squadron- but I still love to bring it up!)

In order for this to occur, I would have to know these specific facts. All I know is that there is some sort of "K-something relay" and that it matters to someone. Also, if something...could be a converter, might be an inverter...fails, it does some weird stuff that looks like a flameout, but if you actually look at it for a second, it's obvious it's not*.

Beyond that, I just know that doing a max power check with the i-EDECU (or whatever it's called) is a huge pain in the ass and it makes autos as equally as a pain in the ass as AFC-169 (DECU addition).

Guy must be in the DCAG pipeline by now. I forget the guy’s name, but that shit was slated a few months ago.

Another jet thread derailed by fucking helicopter minutiae that no one cares about. Hey, when are you guys getting that CAG?
I deeply apogize for derailing a thread about a jet simulator. ?

Does the simulator include making an 80 slide PPT brief and a two hour debrief; if not I'm not wasting my money on something so inaccurate.

I would like to point out—using my elbows to point—that this is pretty funny.

I’m all for making fun of the Air Force, but I’m confused as to how we made that turn here.
