We had some Army liason types on JFK...not sure what they did exactly, but they were always in CVIC when I went to brief. Anyway, they got Sea Service ribbons while we were out there, which they thought inordinately cool.

It looks a little like the Meritorious Unit Award. Here's the cheat sheet that I used, everything appears to be in the correct order and are mainly unit awards and cheesy AF ones...
Not that it's really worth making a big deal outta-Katrina got EVERY Coastie a ribbon....Deepwater Horizon got many a ribbon.
If he did an overseas boat tour...That's 5 maybe 6 ribbons without doing anything above and beyond. Get an end of tour...Thats 2 full rows + 1 right there...plus the two I mentioned at the top...3 full rows without much work at all...

I am far too lazy to update my ribbons. We could just give out smiley stickers; it'd be cheaper and easier to update.

Yes...what does a "warchop" sport now days? Besides one of 50 different Supply "war"fare pins that are awarded after completing the appropriate PQS?
I just went to see how www.warchop.com 4 years after its first appearance on this site - it isn't.
Trader, don't take this personally, I've just always found the Supply Corps with all their "war"fare devices quite halirious, especially after watching them dodge any type of at sea duties outside their normal office hours for 3 years on the carrier. They would come to the bridge for 5 or so watches to get their SWO Chop PQS signed off and then scream bloody murder if anyone should suggest they join the watch rotatiion. Suppos and the Docs were the only ones how regularly watched movies in the wardroom yet alone saw a movie from beginning to end. My roommate in the stateroom was a Suppo and would get pissed if I disturbed his 10 hours of sleep by getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bridge for watch. Why did he have 3 different climates worth of brand new nomex flight jackets and I couldn't get my one falling apart, well used summer one replaced for lack of funds?
I know Suppos are essential support wennies but they crack me up and piss me off all at the same time.
Why? They had the bad luck to get captured. The medals they get for their conduct during the actions they were taking when they got captured or for their actions during their captivity are the ones that count.
I have many thoughts on this subject and I suspect that they fall in line with your views HAL. In my 4 years of active duty the most important medal/ribbon I have is my Sea Service with 2 stars. I damn well know I earned them the hard way. My 2 medals don't really mean crap (1 Good Conduct, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal) big whoop, I was in the right place at the right time. Well I do believe I'm done with my rant now as I've had this discussion in another thread a few years back!
Couldn't the same be said for the Purple Heart then? Someone had the bad luck to get shot or injured, just as MB's dad says.
