In all seriousness, I see plenty of sailors in uniform with a beard. Some also shave their head, and still maintain a shave chit for a beard.
One of my cruise roommates had some sort of weird breakout on his neck, so the doc gave him some topical medicated goop and a two-week no-shave chit. He already had the most obnoxious cruise ‘stache known to man, because our Skipper at the time wasn’t a real stickler for enforcing mustache regs underway. After a week or so, he doubled down by shaving his head. It was the most perfectly-legal way I’ve ever seen to instantly turn every Master Chief in a 50-foot radius hypertensive.

I crossed the line right next to him while he was looking like that, and King Neptune sent our whole group of wogs back through for a second go-round, just because of his obnoxious (yet legal) facial hair.

My wing AMSO once told me the PRT office in Millington was staffed by two O-4 physiologists competing for one EP FITREP. Can’t confirm, but it’d explain the need to keep screwing with the PRT every few years.

I wouldn't put a whole of stock in that. There's been movement in getting rid of the sit-up for some time at a lower level than Millington for several years. There's also substantial evidence showing what some sort of targeted core workout (like planking and side leaning rests) can do for helo guys (both pilots and aircrew).

I wouldn't be surprised if the actual execution is some weird, water-downed version of a plank, but the sit-up has always been an unhealthy exercise.

Yep. One's legal and one isn't. Such is life.

Interestingly, per the most recent Farm Bill, if the CBD is made entirely from industrial hemp (NOT the marijuana plant), then it’s 100% legal.

Agree, I do PRT-style crunches precisely twice a year (or once a year for the past two years...FLEX), but ever since my HT IP days planks and other similar core exercises have probably saved my back for years to come. Thumbs up to the change, interested to see how it'll be implemented.

According to the metric ton of emails I’ve received from both the Navy and on the civilian side, it’s still not federally legal to consume CBD even if it’s less than 0.3% THC content. But apparently it’s federally legal to grow it, sell it, possess it, transport it, etc. per the Farm Bill.

Depends on which plant is used to make the CBD.

Situps are out in 2020. Planking (yes, planking) is in. As well as alternate cardio on a rowing machine. Figures they’d get rid of the one event I know I can max. Feh.

Nope.. When I was drilling with PERS and they changed it back around 2005, it’s was a short, dumpy 0-4 GURL (Reservist). There was not a single bit of consultation or anything. She was just making up shit that she thought sounded reasonable and send it through the chop chain.

I was at the FBI before I joined the Navy and their PRT consists of situps, 300-meter sprint, pushups, then the 1.5 mile run. Used to have to do pull ups at the end but they got rid of that. Situps are a hip flexor exercise and don't really work your abs. Trying to sprint 300 meters after doing situps sucked big time. My legs always felt like jello.
