Dude, not Bertha, too soon. I love my home but the leadership there is awful and the populace doesn't help either. I follow the news out of there and I just don't get it. It seems like things are only getting worse. What happened to my beautiful city. When I move back, I'll definitely be going to the Eastside.

And CLE at the other end of the spectrum. Big airport.......no planes, and getting bigger.

Preaching to the choir, bro. I didn't grow up in western WA, but I got there as soon as I could. As much as I love Seattle, I wish a sizeable chunk of the populace would go jump in Puget Sound; it's like there's a reality distortion field around King County.

Only problem with the Eastside is that it's a giant real estate money pit. I lived in Issaquah while I worked for the Port. I could afford to rent there. Buy? Feh. I can't compete with Microsoft money. My housing search basically consisted of starting in Bellevue and moving east until I could afford something better than a shoebox. Without punting and moving to Renton or Kent. Blech.

Yeah, I hear you. It's an expensive area and my goal is either Bellevue or Kirkland but I'm a simple guy and don't need much space, except a large garage. You know, for the toys. It is fun to read the comments on The Seattle Times though, apparently common sense isn't completely lost.

So you're saying the comments thread on a local news site is where you find confidence in the wisdom of the larger population?

Hey, Bertha is not down, it's taking an operational pause. You guys would rather live on Eastside than Ballard or Green Lake? I'm pretty fond of that part of town.

Those are nice areas, but taxes are going up and there are a lot of vagrants so property crime is up, too. A friend of mine just moved out of there to the eastside after being tired of dealing with that.

VNAV is your high maintenance girlfriend: a lot of input, everything needs to be just right before she works correctly. FLCH is the girl next door: reliable and predictable, does what you want, when you want. V/S is the crazy one: looks great at first, but deadly if you don't pay close attention.

I thought I understood this post and then I had my "fly 2" sim on Proline today...

Thanks for nothing, P-3s.

Frankly, I'd rather go further north or northeast. I grew up on an acre. I want land. And you can't get that south of Shoreline, north of Federal Way, or west of Fall City unless you're richer than Croesus.

South of the Canadian border and north of Snohomish seems to be the only place to get anything reasonable anymore.

We borrowed the technology from what our locomotive business is using for in cab engineer cues to optimize fuel consumption. Southwest, New Zealand Air, and Asiana are all early adopters.

Doubt if this locomotive is part of your business but thought it was pretty cool. Union Pacific spent 6 years restoring one of the legendary Big Boys - it just steamed a few days ago under its own power for the first time since 1962.

That’s awesome. It’s great to see such a piece of machinery operating again like that.
