You are correct. You can have an opinion. It just would not be the most informed if you don't give the guy who was there the time of day. I will not debate this here as it belongs in the War Zone. But if you don't think the CIA or anyone else critical of the program has an agenda you are fool. Just because it has an official Murica stamp on it doesn't mean it can't be bull shit. We are talking the CIA. Not like they don't ever shade the truth or mislead people. Isn't that kind of in their job description. Oh, and shading the truth wouldn't ever protect their jobs or preserve a budge line item from cut by an irate congress. If you don't want your $1.00 royalty going to the guy I hear there is a local library in your neighborhood.

I ain't got enough time to waste reading a book from a guy who literally practiced what he preached wouldn't work, which is exactly what they taught at SERE. As for the program, it is dead and long gone. If it was do effective and conformed with our values and laws of a nation it would still be around, but it wasn't and it isn't. Rendering the debate moot at this point, thankfully in favor of basic decency and the rule of law.

Because I am not so closed mined and high and mighty as you, I'll read your little article (not an official publication after all, just another opinion) on the flight to France when the gin is free.

Seriously, Wink, who the fuck are you to come on here and dictate what constitutes required reading on a topic so that we can have a valid opinion on a topic that most of us are very familiar with. You’re sounding more and more like that uncle that everyone is embarrassed of at Thanksgiving.

Does that include manipulating or eliciting information from unwitting people? Or, strictly overt interrogation, i.e. the interviewee knows exactly who the interviewer is?

I think both are interesting. And the related art of negotiation.

Because I am not so closed mined and high and mighty as you...

I'll rely on the experts like the folks from SERE, who didn't go against the very training they were giving, professional military interrogators, I've actually worked with a few, the FBI, who should know what they are talking about, and other folks like General Mattis and Senator McCain, who both know a little bit more on the subject than most of us.

So yeah, really closed minded.

I'll read your little article (not an official publication after all, just another opinion) on the flight to France when the gin is free.

It is an official publication and I noted it was a review, attention to detail.

After viewing a TED talk by Dr. Duckworth during Primary check-in I've been interested din why some people pick themselves up and dust themselves off when they fall down while others give up at the first stumble, and a buddy recommended this book. This book about the behaviors of resiliency is written at a level that most people who have little education in psychology, such as myself, can understand and enjoy.

Great book. I've read pretty much everything on this topic. Textbook case of Silicon Valley hubris. As a tech/startup person myself, mind blowing that she lasted as long as she did. The red flags were there from the beginning.

Interesting sounding book. Got it on Kindle for deployment. I'd just like to point out that "Theranos" is a fantastic name for a blood-sucking company. Or a zombie virus, Bond villan, or a Marvel comics archenemy.

Isn't he the guy with the shiny glove and magic rocks?

Or his brother maybe. I'm looking forward to reading about the origin of the name. If it doesn't involve a Tesseract, a Bifrost, or at least a trip out of the solar system, I might be disappointed.

I think @RobLyman was the one who mentioned it, but I picked up a copy of the Blackhawk design history book.

Easy read and will be quickly digestable for anyone with a helo background. Also put in easy terms why some design decisions were made that never made sense to me, such as cabin height. Turns out the Army wanted to fit two -60s in a C-130 and that essentially capped the height.
