My .02. Its definitely difficult. Priors, do not go into it woth the 'ive been to boot, this will be cake" mentality. Its much more intense than boot. Civies, just remember its all a game designed to build you into a strong leader. NOTHING is personal. Your room will never be clean enough. It is academically demanding at times, and is physically intense. The DIs do a great job with that. Keep your head down and your motivation up and always remember, youre just a couple weeks away from a 6 figure job.

Thanks for that little nugget, I needed it. Because to be honest, although boot camp was a joke, I figured it would be a good indicator of what to expect. Seems I’m wrong and other prior enlisted need to remember that. And even other training that I’ve experienced, like SERE, is just a different kind of suck. Just gotta plan and prepare for the known rather than the unknown, which is to run and stay fit, study Appendix B, and enjoy life until your report date ??

Same. I'm pretty much hyping my mind up that it will be the worst experience ever, and if its any better thats a win in my book! ??

Hi everyone. Looking forward to seeing you all in Newport in a few weeks. My OR decided to go radio silent just a few weeks before the storm. Are we responsible for the ticket for the flight there? He hinted earlier that the ticket would be provided but some earlier posts lead me to believe otherwise.

If you’re flying, they should book it for you.

Yeah, absolutely no way you should pay for that flight. Sucks that your recruiter went silent. Not sure I’ve ever heard a good recruiter story. Try contacting or visiting a different one in that office to arrange this for you. Kind of important.

With enlisted MEPS, you stay at a hotel nearby and are then driven to the airport with others. If you’re driving, they reimburse you at a later date, I’d imagine. That’s how it would work for prior enlisted.

Talk to the officer processor or the office. Surely you have other contact information that you can reach out to.

Will do. Thank you all for your suggestions.
@MattyGatch, overall this recruiter’s office has been a pleasure to work with. Just a little stressful not hearing back this close to ship-out.

This question was posted on the FB page, but idk if it was answered, so I think I will pose the question here. Do we need phone cards to use the phones as OCS?

You could bring one but honestly the senior class leaves extra phone cards there for the junior classes to use. I left 3 that I never used because there was like 10 at every phone.

Bring one of your own, staff has been trashing "extra" phone cards lately. There used to be a hearty supply, then one day they all disappeared and we got word they were no longer allowed to be left there. It may have lightened up since I left Nimitz, but bring your own just in case. Edit: any regular phone card works, or buy one at the NEX when you arrive.
