Lawyer recommendations?

Figured I'd put this here since it doesn't really fit anywhere else...

Can anyone recommend a lawyer in the Jax area, specifically to deal with residential builders? I fear I may be at the point where the only way I'll get anything done to my satisfaction is to threaten with a lawsuit, but of course I'm trying to balance how much it would cost for me to fix it vs. how much attorneys' fees would be...plus being able to get something going sooner the better. I have a feeling some sort of class action would quickly result, so someone with experience with that is a bonus.

25 plus years ago our neighborhood experienced leaks in basements. All homes by same builder. All less than 2 years old. We had our own problems so some folks asked my lawyer wife if she would work up a class action. She is a defense attorney to begin with but made a point of advising people who asked that it might very well turn out to not be worth it. She eventually offered to host a meeting to explain legal rights, options, recourse short of law suits and for the neighbors to share experiences and coordinate efforts. She would not represent anyone. Flyers sent around and were posted where the builder's superintendent, who was in the area dealing with the problem, would see them. At the last minute, Feinstein style, the Super was invited to present a plan for remediation. The response was a polite rejection. Evening of the meeting he shows up anyway saying he found free time but hadn't prepared to speak and had no plans. AFTER hearing Mrs Wink's presentation, which included a detailed report on class action options, and seeing the turn out and pitch forks, the Super simply said he would be in touch. Couple days later everyone got letters from the builder. Made a 180 degree turn. Everyone got what they wanted. Before it was over the owner of the company was sending flowers to the aggrieved folks and offer apologies. Didn't cost anyone a dime of legal fees. Optics. Posturing. Gamesmanship. Don't need a lawyer to do that.

As long as you get a good one when you need one. Just because they are your lawyer doesn't make them good or suited for your purposes. I think you'd admit that. I have seen some lawyers not do well by their clients, not out of incompetence, just simple lack of skills or experience.

No doubt, Wink. But here's what I'm finding I really appreciate about our fraternity...especially as someone who no longer gets to play daily:

I would welcome Mrs. Wink's help. And having sampled a few tasty beverages with Hozer years ago at the NPA "O" club, I greatly appreciate his assistance, too. I wasn't expecting much from posting here, but I greatly appreciate the response from both you, Wink, and Hozer.

I am glad we have one of the good ones here to give you a solid vector. Really hope it all works out for ya. Very sympathetic having been through contractor problems myself.
