One tweet caused Lockheed to lose $1.9B in their market cap. That's what I call accountability.

Considering how many Wall St types he's appointing/nominating, you'd think someone would have explained market volatility and why it's not really a good thing to him by now. Unless of course they're the ones putting this in his ear.

"You know, Mr President-Elect, the F-35 program is out of control. You should tweet about that." (tells fund managers to sell off Lockheed shares)

Even how far fetched that is I wouldn't be surprised. I can't believe his advisors still let him have a Twitter..

How is a tweet causing a drop in stock price for the company, likely a temporary one, 'accountability'?

I meant it with a little tongue and cheek. I was mostly getting at it was nice to see the President-Elect calling out cost overruns on government contracts i.e. the Boeing contract, LCS program and this. It may cause these companies to be a little more pragmatic with delays and cost increases, but that's just hopeful thinking.

The acquisition world, run by government civilians and contractors, has a knack for getting their way - all the time. Anyone who has worked on a staff can tell you about being "waited out." The same strategy can be applied to the highest levels of government.

That's why a good passdown is so crucial in acquisition jobs. It's also why I get really grumpy at all the unnecessary acquisition-specific jargon. In many cases, it's made deliberately obscure to protect "good ideas".

"Based on the tremendous cost and cost overruns of the Lockheed Martin F-35, I have asked Boeing to price-out a comparable F-18 Super Hornet!"

Comparable Hornet? Mr. President-elect, I believe the whole point of a 5th Generation fighter is to make the 4th Generation fighter irrelevant, sir... I suppose the DAS could be put in a Hornet or Rhino, and it could be made for low observability after significant structural redesigns, but I'm making an assumption that that technology is what makes up the "tremendous cost and cost overruns." Haven't we already sunk the majority of the R+D money into this thing? A "yuge" amount if you will.

There's certainly a case to be made for a mix of SuperDuper Hornets/Block 60 Falcons plus F-22/35 for the high end fight across the DoD.

True, but do you honestly think that what he thinks he's asking for?

I'm all about streamlining and generally cleaning up the acquisition world; my two cents is that industry has got DoD bent over and DoD keeps looking back whimpering "is it innovative yet?" So in that sense, yeah, stick it to LM, Boeing, Northrup, et al.... On the other hand, I have a bad feeling that DJT thinks acquisition programs are kinda like houses and hotels in Monopoly...
