Switching my ground contract to air

Hi, I've recently been selected to go to OCS this summer for the Marines. I'm doing PLC Juniors this summer, and I contracted ground. I want to go air but my OSO told me to just put down ground so I could get submitted to the board, he told me I can switch my contract to air once I've been selected. I was just wondering if this is an easy process to do, and if it is that easy to switch my ground contract to an air contract before I commission? He said that I just need to take the flight physical and do well on my ASTB and then I can switch my contract.

No worries. Multiple threads of the same topic by the same poster are frowned upon here. Have you registered at www.marineocs.com yet? There is a wealth of knowledge to be had over there as well. And, since it is a USMC forum you are more likely to find better answers.

Best of luck in your pursuit of an air contract.

...with the drawdown nothing is for sure anymore. Fight for the contract you want. In short, talk with your OSO.
Good advice.

Assume the very worst…which is NOT a shitty deal…that you will graduate from OCS as a Commissioned Officer in the by-God United States Marine Corps. Second chances start there…in 1-3 years.

Like I said in the other thread, if your OSO is telling you to go to juniors with a ground contract and he thinks he can switch you prior to seniors he's probably right. If someone is telling you to go to seniors with a ground contract and switch at TBS, that is a bad plan. Do not commission on a ground contract if you want to fly, plain and simple. Juniors doesn't mean as much because as far as your OSO knows you may fail, or go and decide that you don't want to go back, and there is still time between juniors and when you are actually locked into a contract.
