Tomorrow is the Big Day

Just so everyone has a bit of insight into where the results are. As of last Friday morning the Genoff Program Manager a NCCM told us that they were briefing the admiral on the results that afternoon. He also said that Big Navy came back and said that they needed to select more SWO by almost 70, so expect a longer delay on those. That was the word we got at NRD Hou on Friday. I'm anxiously waiting for them to come out as well, so any news I will keep you all updated.

70 is a pretty big jump!

If 70 more OCS candidates get their shot, I for one am willing to wait another week or two if that's what it takes. In this case, that's a REALLY awesome, cool, and in the case of applicants, very positive reason for delay in results notification.

This morning's motivated post:

I'll certainly agree with that. We want to see as many qualified and deserving candidates select for, and complete OCS as possible. The world is a rough place, and (I'll make the assertion that) our Navy is going to need to develop and employ the next generation of qualified, willing and able leaders. The flip side to that coin has our faces on it. As applicants/aspiring candidates/possible future shipmates, (I'll suggest that) we have a responsibility of sorts- to support each other and provide that extra dose of motivation when things get tough. Thus far, we appear to have done well in this department. Operating under the assumption that the gouge surrounding the +70 figure is true, lets wait it out, and do so with motivated humility. One can never know-the applicant that is granted one of the additional slots may be the future CNO one day.

The phone conversation that was had did not include numbers that were originally set. He (Genoff Program Manager) said that selection for pilot was extremely high and that the SWO results would be delayed a bit as they need to add alot of slots to the selection ( He said around 70 +). It was implied that the SWO results would be delayed until that number is met. I am waiting to meet with some of the processors to see if I can get anymore useful information. I will keep y'all up to date.

70 added to what original number?
Well, all of the intel I have gathered through-out this little journey suggests that with any given SWO board one could reliably expect roughly 100 spots or so, probably a few more. I may be completely wrong about this (wouldn't be the first time) but if this new gouge is correct then 70 is a significant increase.

If the SWO results are delayed, will that in turn delay the results for SNA/SNFO from being released or are they independent from each other?

Yes and no. If they decide to release the aviation results with SWO then yes, if they decide to release aviation results w/o SWO then no. I have heard that aviation results have been done and are waiting to be written off but SWO now has more slots they can fill.

So hypothetically, are we saying there might be a LOWER threshold for selection for SNA and FO than for SWO? Correct me if I am wrong but isn't that a bit uncommon.

... and since I dropped the "h" word just now, here's another one, if you selected SWO as choice one, SNA as choice 2, and get Both (not that I'm saying I would; I'm not nearly that awesome), would you automatically go in as a SWO, or would they allow you to choose ( I for one would be ecstatic with either).
