Can anyone tell at what stage Corpus is at in the transition to the T-6? Has a squadron converted yet? If so, which one? Has T-6 procurement slowed with the current budget issues?

VT-27 is the first squadron at NGP. Taking a look at their flight schedule for the last few days, it appears all T-6 flight are IP VFR/IFR proficiency flights. I'll let someone else chime in for the exact timeline.

VT-27 has started up the first T-6B ground school class...should be flying soonish, with 20 or so T-34 studs. No idea about 28, but they keep starting up T-34 folks.

Don't know if it's slowed but still getting new planes at Whiting. Flew one with only the acceptance paperwork in the book the yesterday. Already had gripes for part of the interior coming apart. Came that way from the factory, so much for quality assurance.

It's nice flying the new ones (smells new, not like throw up, etc), but every first flight after the acceptance flight I've flown had something go wrong.

First training flight on 155, I had a phantom master warning. First one on 179 was thursday and the UFCP kept going into air-to-air mode (and wouldn't reset to the persistant display with RTN button. (though I must admit, I don't know if it's supposed to).

I've had some issue pop up in most of my flights. It is usually small stuff like TCAS failing or the lap belt release tab falling out, but sometimes it's odd stuff like the left gear door showing red for an extra 10 seconds when the gear is raised. I don't think any of the planes I've flown that were above 120 tail number had anything wrong with them. Granted, I've only had about 20 flights total, but that's enough to describe a trend, right? I'm guessing that all new planes have some kinks to iron out.

Rumor at VP-30 is that it is almost impossible to get a maritime slot right now because everyone is putting it first on their dream sheet in hopes of getting the P-8A.

What in the fuck does that have to do with anything T-6 related? And do you honestly believe anything that comes out of the kooliaid factory that is VP-30?

I'll bet you believed them when they told you that you are going to blow some ships up because one day in the future P-8 will carry harpoon.

False, the rockstars are still going Jets and there's still plenty of mediocre and awful pilots going maritime. Don't buy the hype, you're not special.

Of course thats a rumor that the VP-30 guys made up about themselves. Not the case by any means.

It was a rumor started by students just finishing primary. I put it on here to see if it had any legs. With all the primary instructors on here it was the best spot to ask what studs are asking for. I could have started a new post, but why?

Ah, student rumors- gotta love them. the VP community is no longer the dumping ground for terrible pilots like it was in recent history, so if you suck as a student- it has been harder to get because more of the better students want it.

A friend of mine just classed up for advanced and he said his 43 was the lowest of his class and most of the guys in there had scored out of primary in the mid 50's. A Helo draft is occurring here and there because everyone's going Maritime or jets.

As far as the T-6 transition, VT-27 has had their first student class start form flights in the T-6. It was only like a dozen. A new class just started ground school. VT-28 starts their transition next year after all over 27 is completely transitioned. They still have several IP's in FITU.
