I am having doubts about that route. A couple of friends have gone the EMS route, and although the travel bennies are lacking, the lifestyle and starting pay is good (though the seniority pay is less).

Lemme get this straight. A P-3 guy with beaucoup multi time has to start at the regionals?

No, he doesn't. There are plenty of other flying jobs that set you up for the airlines that a P-3 dude would be competitive for.

The only military guys that would need to go to the regionals are generally NFO to pilot types and chopper dudes with very limited fixed wing time.

Having said that, if you can survive the first year or three, it isn't the end of the world, either. That assumes that you retired from the military and didn't just get out.

As to EMS, I have some buddies that do it and other commercial choppering and seem to greatly enjoy it. It mainly depends on the company.

Phrog, there is a glut of 6000 hour plus comair pilots trying to get hired. Think there were 2000+ applicants for last years Hawaiian window. That to fill 90 positions roughly. I was and am beneath their competitive mins.

Patience and currency is the name of the game right now. Luckily I have a job flying that pays well and I don't have to put up with the $18 an hour regional jobs.

Any military guy with more than the min 1500 fixed wing turbine PIC will go straight to the top of the list when "off the street" hiring starts at the majors.

True, but I've had friends in the know give estimates all over the place.

All I know is that with 100 Multi Pic, I'm not on the top of the stack.

Ya. When I was a 2xFOS I pleaded to not fly as a,2P unless absolutely necessary, because 200 is a lot more than 100.

Request denied. Only pic flights were FCF and CQ. Because insert bs reason here.

Hell, I've got 2,000 multi engine PIC - pretty sure I wouldn't be at the top of the stack...

You'll be fine. The problem is there isn't "a stack" anymore. It's all a computer screening. Nobody knows exactly what they're looking for, except the obvious "more is better".

It's really frustrating.
