Stashing Questions

Forgive me if this is the wrong section to do this in.

Basically, it's too early for my rotc CO to provide me with some current info, so I'm wondering if anyone on airwarriors has any gouge on stashing.

I am commissioning in May, and was selected 1390. Based off of the previous years, most new ENS stay at my school's nrotc unit for around 2-3 months, just hanging around until their report dates shredding papers. This is inconvenient for me as my rent agreement is up in May. I did some research and found that in the past, stashed ensigns could request to be stashed at a recruiting station somewhere close to their home. I live across the country from my unit, so this seems like a good idea for me financially. Obviously I know that if the navy wants me to stay, I'll figure something out, but it's just a matter of personal preference.

I was wondering if anyone had some information on the process of requesting to be stashed at a local recruiting district, or just requesting to be stashed somewhere different in general. I want to know what the process is, and how I can do it early as possible to increase my chances of being stashed locally. I did some searching on the site and have found very little relevant information, as most people were talking about being stashed after they completed flight school.

Thanks for the help guys.

You can try to extend your lease by 2-3 months. Many landlords are accomodating in this kind of situation.

By the way, I found this neat-o thread by using the high-speed-low-drag search engine...it actually works....

Start talking to the juniors. Some of them may start the lease for their senior pad in May to avoid having to move all of their shit back home or into storage for the summer. I took advantage of this and had a townhouse to myself for only a few hundred bucks per month.

Don't get me wrong, I love my family and my hometown, but it's hard to beat working on a college campus. And by "working" I mean getting paid to lift weights, play video games, and hit on summer school girls with your closest friends. And party every night.

I had life by the balls.

And here I was clicking on this thread hoping to hear some good tips on growing a killer stache. I guess the thread should've been "stache-ing" questions :)

Most awesome "stash" I'm aware of: ENS RIO out of NATTC Glynco...no RAG quotas or "seats" avail on west coast...gets "stashed" on the staff of CVW-XX for a cruise. Gets to fly with VF-XXX...even in combat. He and his pilot bag a MiG one bright and shiny day...I think the wingman got one too...a pretty well-celebrated event. He's golden from then on...and never actually has to go through the RAG/FRS.

I think I have that right...:)
