"THE WORD" at tbs right now about API

That is correct, we have something like 12 slots for various jobs around Marine Base Quantico, "i.e. fill sand bags" in Mike Co. All except for the 12 lucky few get to go straight to P-cola. That is the WORD as of this writing.....

I was from Bravo Co last year and stayed in Quantico for one of these stash jobs. You won't be filling sand bags in Mike Co, and in fact, you get completely detached from TBS so you won't have to deal with any BS from Camp Barrett. The quality of these jobs vary and some of the things we were assigned to do included being an XO or XO's assistant in a company on mainside Quantico, be an aide to a general's aide, work at HMX-1, be a research assistant at MCU, work at MMOA, or go up to the Pentagon or Navy Annex. Your quality of life will be more laid back as a poolee in Pensacola, but if you want observed fitrep time or have a reason to stay in Northern Virginia it can be a decent situation. PM's welcome if anybody wants more info.

^Or, you can get to Pensacola and enjoy the last real free time you're going to have in a long, LONG time.

Lead Ensign in the MOC is NOT the job one wants...

I dunno I talked to a few of them, I heard that often they would catch themselves asking why they enjoyed coming into work by 7am and leaving no earlier than 4pm, sometimes sticking around till 5 or 6, but they said that the energy that surrounds that place is something different.

The energy surrounding the MOC is something different alright.

Just saying, coming into work at 7 and leaving at 1700 sounds like a dream from the perspective of someone in the middle of the BOC at TBS.

And a dream from the perspective of someone in a fleet squadron.

Yes, you're going to work long hours. Get used to it.

The MOC goes through cycles of stupid. Sometimes it made sense and we showed up one day a week (Fridays for a safety brief) and whenever our stash job needed us. Then it would change and become TBS all over. Show up everyday, mando PT, crazy stupid working parties and busy work. Daily they would tell us we have too many and needed people to volunteer to redesignate, all while finding out the delays just kept getting longer. Throw all that in with a SSgt who had a chip on his shoulder and treated commissioned officers like Pfc's whenever he could get away with it.

That was the point I was attempting to make. Plenty of people come into TBS from jobs, schools, or enlisted service where they worked 12-14 hour days anyway. Every serious profession works long hours and has crappy entry-level experiences, comes with the territory. Ask any Engineer/Doctor/Lawyer.

UPDATE: I got my orders today and I'm heading straight down to P-cola barring any unforeseen events lol (month and a half left in the POI). My report date is May 1st.
