Well that article said that both pilots were rescued. The one up on yahoo said only one was. I hope yahoo didn't know what they were talking about...

Shit hit the fan here when it happened. We were told it happend on a dog leg final to NAS Pensacola. We had to call all of our aircraft. Apparently it was not even close to us. Everything I've heard said both guys were rescued but condition is unknown.

Unfortunately according to the AP it looks like one of the pilots died after being rescued. RIP and blue skies.

They took a stripped down F-15A higher than that during the 1970's...I think the program was called "Streak Eagle" or something to that effect.
