Back in the early '80s, I ran into one of my former FE's from VX-1 at the NAS Dallas NEX. He was in the ferry squadron for shore duty and was training on 53's, passing through Dallas. During our conversation he related a story about his pre-flight that morning. The Chief who was training him told him, "This bird is almost down." He asked "What do you mean 'Almost'?" The reply was " When you can't climb to the rotor head because of hydraulic leaks, the aircraft is DOWN!" :icon_mi_1
Not that bad but leaks are definitely a good thing on the 53...cause if it ain't leaking then your out of fluid...
